We had never stayed at any of the Anantara resorts before, but having done some research & asked a friend, who is a luxury travel agent, we found the resort near Ras Al Kaimah. We didn’t want to stay in Dubai, as we wanted peace and relaxation and this was exactly what we found. The resort is only 1 years old and the rooms are amongst the best we have stayed in, throughout our many years of travelling all over the world, including the Rheeti Rah and Huvafen fushi in the Maldives. It is the UAE version of the Maldives in many ways, with its quiet location, over water villas, clear waters& white sands. We stayed in 2 interconnecting rooms, as we have 2 teenage children and they were both exceptionally appointed and large. They both had big & extremely comfortable beds, lots of wardrobes and comfortable sitting space and a fabulous, large bathroom. We had 2 great garden terraces to sit on in the evenings after dinner. All The restaurants were excellent & we had fantastic food choices all holiday. Mekong, the Asian restaurant, is the best we felt. We were half board, a slight warning that it becomes very expensive if you choose any items off the set menu and adding lunch is a cost to bear in mind, which we found to be expensive at the end bill. A special mention has to go to Jordan, who was completely exceptional. He was so friendly, professional and went above and beyond to help us as a family, organising padel games, helping us with sunbeds/beach towels etc. He spent time with our son playing football, which was so appreciated & will give him amazing memories for years to come- he was so fond of Jordan, as we all were. Sunil from the beach was brilliant, also Sushil from the pool bar was so helpful and attentive& friendly, he also went above & beyond to help make us feel relaxed and really well looked after. Dereck who drives the resort buggies was also fanatastic and always there at the right time to pick us up at anytime with a big smile on his face! The staff overall are what make the resort what it is. Nothing is too much trouble. They are all attentive, professional and friendly. We all loved our stay- one of our favourite memories as a family on holiday and did exactly what we wanted it to- offering complete peace and relaxation, in beautiful surroundings. Would recommend to anyone looking for luxury, quiet and something a bit off the beaten track- as other than a desert trip, you are very much resort based. I would say it is good for couples and families alike. The only word of caution- be Careful with the desert tours. We booked through the very helpful travel desk in the hotel itself, but for £250 for 4 of us, we were given the impression that we would be able to do all the activities that were quoted to us, sand surfing, dune buggies - all included in that price- when we got there, we were told that these were all extras- at an extra cost- we didn’t spend the money as they weren’t worth the cost at all - so we had a desert safari in a 4x4
