Pension Tamatuamai

Esperienza da dimenticare. Appartamento infestato da formiche che hanno invaso anche i nostri bagagli. Pulizia assente. Finestre rotte impossibili da chiudere con conseguente ingresso di zanzare ed altri insetti. Acqua non potabile e di colore marrone dai rubinetti. Dispenser di acqua potabile guasto che rogava solo acqua calda se acceso. Assenza di carta igienica e sapone. Connessione wifi assente in casa, era necessario uscire in giardino. Materasso durissimo. Siamo stati costretti a lasciare l’appartamento dopo la prima notte e prenotare altrove per il giorno successivo ad un costo esorbitante, ottenendo solo un rimborso del 20%. Se non volete rovinarvi la vacanza andare altrove.

We stayed at Pension Tamatuamai in August 2022 for 2 nights. Mata who runs the pension speaks mostly French but decent English as well. She was responsive while we were staying there through "What's App" which I downloaded onto my phone prior to our trip and works via Wifi. The pension was quite spacious and clean, simply furnished. We actually had the largest room which included a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living area, deck and outdoor dining area with a picnic table. The pension included breakfast which was coffee, a baguette and some butter per day. There is a small market about 10 minutes walk down the road where you can buy groceries and a few small cafes on the water near to the market. The room we stayed in did have air conditioning. There is no TV. The Wifi worked well enough to make a video call. There are several friendly cats and dogs that live there too and seem well cared for. There is some confusion about airport pick up. I don't believe this is included in the stay but Mata did arrange for our transfers to the airport and I was able to obtain her email through the travel agency to arrange for the pick up at the airport. Overall, it was a quiet and peaceful place to stay and we were able to arrange for some tours while we were there which picked us up at the pension. There are 2 bicycles I believe too which can be borrowed on request. At night you can hear the waves crashing on the ocean side which is just about 100 meters or so from the pension. The public beach is about a 15 minute walk away.
