Matterhorn Golf Hotel

I booked this thinking it was a nice hotel from the reviews I had read. My experience was horrible, it is not cheap to stay there and the room was very basic with brown sheets on the bed which had a couple of holes in them. The owner is a very rude man who does not speak nicely to his guests considering you are the one paying to stay in his “hotel”. He rants and raves at you if you so much as ask if they could ring a taxi for you, he even followed me outside shouting his head off when I did this. No doubt he will send a nasty reply back for this review which just goes to show what sort of person he is and how unprofessional he is.

¡Maravillosa experiencia! Encantador hotel, al pie de Los Alpes. Desde el momento del cheking, nos recibieron con una profesionalidad y amabilidad sinceramente inmejorables. La habitación acogedora, impecablemente limpia, con una amplia terraza (¡no se pierdan el cielo estrellado por la noche!). El menú degustación de las cenas, ¡ya merecería el viaje! Productos de cercanía y gran calidad. Chef ¡excepcional! La atención en la sala, atenta, a cada uno en nuestro idioma: italiano, francés, alemán, portugués, inglés, español (ayudante del Chef, Javier encantador y profesional). Desayunos, cafés al gusto, recién hechos, mermeladas caseras, panecillos deliciosos. Y, lo mejor de todo, la amabilidad de Elena y Maurizio. Volveremos, ¡sin duda!

Since we arrived to the hotel, the owner MAURIZIO MONTICELLI was really mad and yelling at everyone, even to my family and me, we didn’t even had spoken to him and he was really rude, he isn’t respectful, I don’t recommend coming to his hotel, he thinks you’re a trashcan where he can yells and do whatever he wants when you basically have paid. HE ASKS FOR RESPECT BUT HE DOESN’T RESPECT THEIR GUESTS, NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL!!! He stays angry 100% of the time, he is immature and has anger issues, read other reviews and you will know. AND AN EXTRA COMMENT, the rooms are horrible, you don’t have any space in the bathroom, the toilet is in the shower basically, and the room isn’t really good, search for other hotel option!

This is a very basic hotel that needs total refurbishment. It is not cheap and you will find a lot of extra charges on your bill when you check out. The breakfast is adequate but nothing special (and not cheap), although the coffee is good. I would advise avoiding dinner in the restaurant; the cheapest dinner is CHF35 (£31) for which you get 3 courses of the chef's choice (ie the leftovers). It is a short walk to the station but the train to Zermatt is (of course) expensive.

Récemment, mon choix s'est porté sur cet hôtel pour y passer une nuit. Je suis arrivé assez tard, après 19h30 à l'hôtel ensuite d'une longue excursion. La clé de ma chambre était posée sur le comptoir avec une enveloppe, la réception ferme peu après 19h00. J'ai trouvé sans souci mon lit, jusqu'à là, pas de soucis. Je prends une rapide douche pour me rafraichir puis vient l'heure de penser à me restaurer. Je descends au restaurant et il est 20h03, on m'annonce qu'ils souhaitent pas me servir car la cuisine ferme, je suis seul ! D'ailleurs, en étant au comptoir, on entendait le personnel s'engueuler entre eux en cuisine mettant une gêne parmi les clients en salle. Finalement, c'était peut-être mieux que je ne mange pas là et d'ailleurs, un restaurant un peu plus bas m'a accueilli à bras ouverts. De retour à l'hôtel vers 21h30, il y avait toujours du monde en terrasse... Bon, j'ai bien mangé dans l'autre établissement donc je ne vais pas m'attarder sur le sujet. J'arrive en chambre, l'isolation phonique et thermique est inexistante. Cela ne me pose pas de problèmes jusqu'à ce qu'on entends le moindre mouvement dans les couloirs. Autant vous dire qu'il faut prier pour avoir un voisinage discret. La nuit fût bonne et sans encombres. Mon départ sera matinal de l'hôtel, je descends à la réception qui est occupée et on m'annonce que le parking est payant. Pas de quoi déposer mon bilan personnel mais je trouves toujours mesquin de faire payer ce genre de prestations. Autant l'inclure dans le prix de la nuit... De plus, la personne à la réception ne respirait pas la joie et la bonne humeur. Tout compte fait, c'est dommage mais je préférerai privilégier un autre établissement lors d'un prochain passage et je ne recommande à personne d'y séjourner.
