We traveled to Sunrise Anjum Resort as a group of six, booking two rooms—one for the grandmothers with one of our kids, and another for me, my wife, and our baby. Having visited Egypt five times before, including multiple stays at Sunrise Arabian Beach Resort, we had high expectations, especially given the hotel’s high rating. Unfortunately, while there were a few positives, our overall experience was deeply disappointing due to poor service, misleading policies, and a general lack of hospitality. Positives: Excellent Spa & Massage: Both my wife and I were very happy with the massage services. The quality was top-notch and one of the highlights of our stay. Good Food Quality: The food was quite good for Egypt. While the selection was more limited compared to Rixos, the taste was better than most resorts. Room Cleaning: Housekeeping did a thorough job, and the rooms were always well-maintained. Cocktails Were Mostly Okay: While inconsistent in quality, the cocktails were generally decent, especially considering the use of local alcohol. Negatives: 🚫 Terrible Sound Insulation: Our room had an adjoining door to another room, and the soundproofing was nonexistent. We could hear everything from our neighbors - conversations, alarms, etc. One night, the entertainment volume was increased at 22:30, waking our entire block, including our toddler. 🚫 Rude & Unhelpful Reception Staff: • The receptionist, Said, was especially unprofessional. At check-in, he mocked us for not printing our voucher instead of trying to assist. • When I complained about the lack of soundproofing, he asked for my room number three times, instead of simply writing it down - yet nothing was done. • At checkout, both Said and a female receptionist stopped us to demand proof that we returned our towels and key cards. Even after their colleague confirmed we had, they didn’t apologize and just walked away. 🚫 Limited Entertainment for Kids: • There were almost no activities for children or babies, which is shocking for a resort of this size. 🚫 Terrible Drink Service in the Main Restaurant: • It regularly took 20–30 minutes to receive simple drink orders like water or juice. • The restaurant had only one drink trolley, which would disappear for refills, often returning after we had finished our meal. 🚫 Inconsistent Cocktails: • Cocktail quality varied wildly depending on who made them. Given the high rating of the hotel, we expected more consistency. 🚫 Dead Coral Reef: • One of the biggest disappointments was the almost completely dead reef, with very few fish. If you’re expecting good snorkeling, this is not the place. 🚫 Misleading Room Availability & Upgrades: • Upon check-in, we found out our rooms were on the second floor without an elevator—a significant inconvenience with a baby and stroller. There was also no designated space to leave the stroller downstairs. • When we asked for a room change, we were told the hotel was fully booked—but this was clearly false, as sever
