Hotel Shree Jagannath (Sea Facing)

Camelia hotel is situated at about 1.5 km from Sri Gouranga statue, Puri near Lighthouse. We stay there 3 nights in January 2nd week. The hotel is good & have one swiming pool & one billiard room. It has lift also. Rooms are not large as expected. No rooms has balcony which is expected at this price. Sea can be seen from window over another building, a little obstruction. Beside the hotel a crowded road towards Bengali bazar. For that always starting from 6am a noise is always there. Lastly, the fooding is not fresh & taste of food is not good with stale smell. I myself suffer from food poisoning after eating that. These points are not expected from a hotel of well reputation like Camelia.

Smelly rooms, not airy, tiny micro bathrooms

We found the hotel very disgusting. We and our friends had booked the hotel for three days in October 2024, but checked out after one day; our friends did not stay even one night. The bedroom linen was stained (blood?), the carpets were dirty, a chair was broken, and there were bugs in the bedroom and the bathroom. The hotel does not have a decent elevator; the old cage-type elevator is not easy to operate and does not go to the top floor. You are out of luck if you are allocated the top floor for a better sea view. Access to the sea is not easy; the beach is across the road and one has to negotiate through scabby shops, dirty pathways, and scattered garbage. They ask you for advance payment which is not refunded if you decide not to stay. I would not stay at this hotel even for free.

The location of the hotel is very good, just opposite of the sea beach. Staff are also good. But the ventilation of the non ac rooms are not good.

If I talk about "Product Quality", hotel is very good. Room & amenities are absolutely value for money. Location is excellent. But the service & the staffs are terrible. I, being a General Manager of a resort, was shocked to see the cold behaviour of the reception staffs. They don't smile. They hardly acknowledge your presence. You don't even feel like communicating with them. Housekeeping staffs have zero communication amongst themselves. On the third day of my stay 3 different individuals knocked my door for servicing. Someone or other will knock your door in regular intervals. I even got a knock by the service staff for dinner order. Come on guys, if at all I need to order there's a phone in the room for the same purpose. If you order food, they won't send the bill with the food. They will send it after 10 PM. So, you need to stay awake even if you have an early morning train. If I don't return to this hotel, that's solely because of its terrible staffs & service standards. When you're charging 4500/- odd per night, you must practise some basic service standards. Hope the management takes this review as an area of improvement & rectify the errors

Location is very good maximum listed foods are not available we visited there with 1- 2yrs old child & 2 old females. They provided 1 room on top floor & 1 room on 3rd floor. Deluxe rooms as not good as per rate. Tv is not working. Ac is not cooling so much. This is a average properly as per my view
