Dhensa Resort

We liked the tranquil setting and comfort of the Dhensa in Punakha. We prefer smaller hotels like this. We had a lovely room (303) that the staff told us had the best views in the hotel. We agree. We had a private deck looking down on the river. The king sized bed was very comfortable and there’s a couch, arm chair and desk chair by the desk. WiFi was good. The bathroom was large and had both a tub and separate shower. The hotel has a good restaurant which, due to its location well outside town, is a definite necessity. The hotel offers cocktails by the bonfire before dinner, and the staff perform traditional Bhutanese dances while you enjoy your drink. They’ll invite you to join them and will teach you a few steps. The dinner was a buffet with Bhutanese and continental selections. We stuck to the Bhutanese and ordered the cheese potatoes and chillies to add to the buffet. Very good. Overall the food was good but not superb. Breakfast was a buffet with eggs and pancakes to order. Our building was down the hill from reception so we only interacted with them at checkin and checkout. Very quick and thorough. All in all, we highly recommend it. Hotels of this caliber come at high cost in Bhutan but provide you a wonderful sanctuary in which to spend the night.

Secluded units in a pine forest with views of the valley, personal service with a limited number of guests. Accommodation was excellent with comfortable bed and pillows. The restaurant provided interesting meals and choices. Wine and beer was available. At night there was a local dance carried out by the hotel staff around warm fires.

It was one of our memorable trip. The location and the rooms are so fantatic. They given hot apple tea as a welcome trip, superb taste. We enjoyed a lot. Very good dinning facitlity, whatever we asked they prepared and served with smiling face. Based on the nationality and food taste, they did the dining facility, it is really good and very much appreciated. Everyday evening Dhenso Management arranged a local culture program for the guest with free of cost and it was so fantastic and mind we also participated to dance with them. I would like to this opportunity to appreciate the staff behavior, Resort Manager, Chef,stewards and the maintenance team

Perched high up on the sides of a river canyon, the Dhensa Resort is simply spectacular, and very different than the other resorts we stayed at in Bhutan. It's much more European, or perhaps Scandinavian, than Bhutanese, but that didn't bother us in the least. The view is awesome (or would have been, with better air quality, but that wasn't Dhensa's fault), the service was profession and pleasant, and the rooms were gorgeous. We loved this place.

Incredible location amidst a forest, on the top of a hill. This resort is built in a very modern yet traditional style, a real treat to the eyes. Rooms are very spacious and very comfortable, including the bathrooms. Wonderful water pressure and temperature. We only stayed for a day - wish we had spent another day here. We also had our dinner and breakfast here and they were both so delicious! They took real good care of us.

A week long sojourn across Bhutan, eventually at one point had us driving into this wonderland of a place for what was to become a memorable stay amidst pristine nature & uncluttered forests in Punakha, Bhutan. Yes! After an exhilarating two days in Thimphu, Bhutan, we decided to head to Punakha which is the slightly more laid back of all settlements in Bhutan. Punakha as a district is easily accessible from all ends of Bhutan since it is close to exactly the centre of the country or for that matter, can also be referred to as central bhutan. The scenic drive from Thimphu to Punakha covered some of the most beautiful stretches of land there are to see in the entire country including the renowned Dochu La pass. The incredibly large expanses of pine tree forests are an absolute treat to the eyes & can be relaxing & soothing to look at while in Punakha. We stayed at Dhensa Boutique, a comfortable yet classy option for all stay requirements in Punakha, Bhutan. We were welcomed with great warmth & shown great hospitality right from the instant we set foot on the premises. Our room was a spacious deluxe room overlooking what appeared to be a small stretch of the forest land adorning the very picturesque Punakha valley. The hotel has a cultural song & dance programme within its premises, which is also a great way to partake of the local variety of music & a style of dance which is grace personified. The food was delicious, & served in the most incredible ambience imaginable at their in house restaurant. Special mention to Kharga & Karma for their exceptional service in the restaurant day in & day out. A variety of beverages are also on offer at the restaurant, the choices ranging from hard liquor to a host of other drinks, albeit at a price. Chef Suraj, the head chef is very accommodating of all special food requests & even otherwise, doles out the most incredible dishes in what was easily a never ending food fiesta. In fact, a large part of our overall satisfying stay at the Dhensa boutique could be attributed to the quality of food we were treated to by chef Suraj, so much so that he has become a household name now and his food, a part of our dinner table conversations. And while I mention him, I cannot possibly overlook mentioning the special ‘pahaadi khichdi’ a day prior to our departure. Easily one of the most special of all gestures extended to us amongst all other aspects of our stay. All in all, a very satisfying stay & undoubtedly, a lifelong memory. Highly recommended !
