Servatur Casablanca Suites & Spa - Adults Only

My friend and I visited this hotel the middle of march. We had a jacuzzi room which was really lovely and big with the jacuzzi on the balcony. There was also sunbeds and a table with 2 chairs. The room has a small kitchen area and it was lovely having a kettle in the room with plenty of plates and cups etc. You also have a microwave, toaster and a hob. The hotel is on the hill but only a short walk to the main centre with all the bars and restaurants in. It does go on until 4am so can be quite noisy however that never bothered us. If you turn right at the shopping centre you come to a lovely area with more shops and restaurants and dancing fountains. It was lovely getting away from all the noise of the centre. If you turn left you can walk to the beach and harbour which takes about 10 minutes. There are some lovely restaurants and bars there. We ate in the Greek restaurant by the harbour and the food was amazing. Back to the hotel and there food. We were half board. Breakfast was a standard buffet with all the normal breakfast bits and was really lovely. The evening meal was buffet starters and dessert then menu main. My main complaint about the food was a lot of the buffet food didn't have any labels either explain what the little starters were or their ingredients. Im a vegetarian and couldn't work out what things were sometimes. If you have a particular allergy you would struggle to know if you could eat them or not. This has been the only hotel where the food has not been clearly marked with labels of ingredients and it really should be. Its the same as in the main menu there is no description of certain foods or ingredients. There were a few vegetarian options but they wasn't marked only 1 vegan choice was . There is a lovely waiter who serves you in the evening who's English is brilliant and was always a laugh but sadly we never got his name but he was so helpful and even got the chef to make me something that wasn't on the menu. Drinks are fine they could do with more comfy seats inside by the bar area this time of year for the evening as it was slightly windy and chilly at times. Pool area is fine with lots of sunbeds and a jacuzzi. We also used the spa and had massages done. Our only real complaint was the last night of our holiday. A couple of days before we were due to leave we found a massive cockroach in our bedroom which we flicked out and informed the maid. We didn't think anything of it as we know the canaries are known for them. When we came back the following night we found a small one. Again it was disposed off. Our last night we came back to the room to find 3 of them sat on the floor and they were babies. We went down to reception to inform them but as it was 1am the guy on the desk said he couldn't do anything and gave us the spray. Very happy that we made the decision to stay at Servatur Casablanca for my wife's birthday. Our room situated on the fifth floor was spotlessly clean, large and well furnished. The bathroom and shower were fantastic. Bed was gigantic and very comfy. Meals in the restaurant were nice. Well cooked and plentiful. Plenty of options at breakfast and an a la carte menu that changed every day. Good bar with a variety of wines and beers at reasonable prices. We had a brilliant view across the valley and the balcony was nice to sit on. Spa was great and we made several bookings during our stay. For us, the most important element of this hotel was the staff. They were brilliant. Friendly, courteous and very industrious. Special mention to Sylvia, Jennifer and Julio who made a fuss of my wife on her birthday with a nice cake and a lovely bottle of wine. We had a brilliant holiday and would definitely recommend a stay at Servatur Casablanca.

Positive points in summary… * Extremely friendly staff! The female chef in particular was so lovely! Always going out of her way to be friendly. She made excellent omelets to order. * Good food and friendly service staff (Both breakfast and dinner were very good with a wide choice - something for everyone) Just one minor point dinner often said potatoes and we ended up with chips) So if you’re fussy just check when ordering. * Hotel was kept clean and tidy * Mini Kitchen in room useful * Junior suite had double jacuzzi bath which was lovely * Good location if you like the walk * Gym looked ok (Basic) but we didn’t use it. Areas to improve * The hotel is looking a bit dated and tired in some areas. The outside Jacuzzi was half full and looked like it needed replacing. We used it but it was not great! * The indoor spa is in need of a refurb- we went in for 30 mins as so dark and some of the water features were no longer working. Sauna was not hot enough and steam room almost too hot! So we didn’t use this at all. Suggestions for others… * Best and easiest walking route to main areas- Go out of the hotel and turn right and take first lot of steps down to the main road. * 5 mile walk / run… Turn left outside hotel. Follow road to bottom and to beach. When at beach - turn right and at the end go doing coastal path to next resort and back. It’s stunning. * Restaurant and cocktails - Tipsy Bee (located at the bottom of the steps on the right) Equivalent to UK prices - lovely food and excellent cocktails. In summary, despite my few negative points we would return as the positives outweighed the negative
