El Establo

I prepaid for a one night stay at this hotel. However, on the morning of the scheduled stay, I received an e-mail indicating that the room would not be available due to some last minute repairs. I was told that they "upgraded" to a different hotel outside of the town center. I was also told to call them at a specific phone number. Since the main reason I had chosen this hotel in the first place was because they were close to the bus station where I would have a 7am departure, the changed location would not work. I immediately called them several times to try to explain why but there was nobody picking up the phone. At the time, I was at the Torres del Paine and ready to go out on the trail. As I would not have cellphone access for the rest of the day, I asked that they cancel the reservation and refund me the money sc they could not offer me the room I paid for. At the end of the day I returned to Puerto Natales. Seeing that I that I had not received any reply, I tried calling them again around 5pm. Again, there was no answer. Therefore, I went ahead and checked in at a different hotel. Around 6:30pm, I finally got a response, which said that, unfortunately, the number they gave me was not working at the time. Secondly, they said the room was now available at the original location. Since I had already checked in into a different hotel, I again asked for a refund but there has not been any response whatsoever ever since.

The accommodation is actually very nice, the problem is the communication. It is very hard to get in contact, and the quality of response is also poor. We stayed there twice for two nights. For one of the stays, we were charged around 4 times as much as booked. We requested a refund but never received a reply to several attempts of getting in contact. The refund also did not happen.

Great place once you step inside It's classified as a Hostal and the area where it is located gave us pause but once you step in the property is excellent. Nice spacious rooms with amenities. Breakfast is delivered the prior night which makes planning the early morning trips easy. Even though the area around the Hostal is a bit run down we never felt unsafe, based on that would recommend.

Hotel pequeño, tranquilo y muy agradable, practicamente nuevo, estaban arreglando una nueva habitación. Algo alejado del centro. Habitaciones sencillas pero muy confortables. Buena calefacción. Te dejan el desayuno en la habitación, No demasiado variado pero muy correcto. La decoración recuerda un antíguo establo reconvertido. Sólo contactamos con una persona, la que nos recibió, que fue muy amable. Muy buena experiencia.

I stayed at El Establo before and after hiking in Torres del Paine, and had wonderful experiences both times. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and helped with everything from restaurant recommendations to storing my luggage between my stays. The property itself is clean and offers all the modern amenities you would want. The location is great as you are walking distance from everything in town, but also close to the bus station. They also offer a fantastic breakfast, which the staff was kind enough to deliver to me early as I was leaving on an early bus. I would recommend El Establo to anyone visiting Puerto Natales or Patagonia.
