Hotel Marquesa

Would I stay again? Probably not. Don't be fooled by the good looks and charm of this hotel. Our room was a superior at the frontvof the hotel. We had no tea or coffee making facilities, the fridge didn't work and neither did the air con so had to sleep with the window open, one night there was a fight outside at 5am and the police were there. We complained to the receptionist about no air con or fridge not working, he just shrugged his shoulders. We were half board, the food is average at best and always cold you need to heat in the microwave, we ate out most nights as the canteen has no atmosphere and the food wasn't great. Pointless going half board. One evening I asked for a coffee at 9.30pm to be told the machine was turned off. Every night we had the same 2 glasses of wine but the price was different everything. Wifi only works in the reception, no wifi in the room. Don't be fooled by this hotels good looks and old charm, the service and facilities are well below what a 3 star hotel should be.

Weekend Trip. Our weekend stay was excellent, The hotel was excellent for the trip. The staff very friendly and helpful. A couple of items required attention in the bathrom……fixed immediately.

Stopped here New Years eve as lots of pubs and bars on the outskirts were closed. By a beautifully decorated square Plaza Iglesia 'de la Nuestra Senora , great for people watching, we had dinner without a reservation. Service good and friendly and the food was very tasty , my husband had rabbit (conejo) and I had prawns. Brought quickly and was hot, reasonable and tasty on a busy night. Well done

The hotel was very pretty, and older building which gave it character. It was very clean and rooms cleaned every day if needed. They had decorations up for Xmas and done a Xmas meal and new year meal , although we didn’t attend we saw the dedication of preparations from staff. All staff super friendly Great location for the square where there is an array of restaurants, and the other way the beach side. The church bells are loud and got every 15 mins, but it’s lovely to hear. Long distance from airport 1.5 hours but worth it Be careful if getting a taxi it’s €125 Highly recommend this hotel.

Polecam. Miła nie narzucająca się obsługa. Z widokiem na ocean. W centrum miasta. Dobra baza wypadowa na spacery na plaże poza miastem. Kościół po drugiej stronie oraz mały park. Tutaj koncentruje się życie miasta. Przy deptaku. Nie słychać samochodów.

Old charm, great value, spot on location. Cannot fault for value, OK, some negatives but, on the whole, these were outweighed by the positives. We would recommend and stay again. - Yes, the room is very dated, no working air-con, stifling hot at times (but ours was at the front, in full sun), lumpy pillows. Breakfast buffet mixed, but again, for the price, good value. We stuck to the hot eggs and bread or cheese and pastries. + Location was perfect! Just off the main road, so easy to walk from the coach drop off, but in the pedestrianised old town. Stunning views of the church, square, town and Teide from our balcony. The restaurant terrace is a great spot for people watching and listening to some of the very talented buskers playing on the steps opposite. Bar prices were reasonable too. The old part of the hotel is beautiful, make sure you pop upstairs and see the rooms at the front and the old photos around the balcony! The roof terrace pool area was an oasis of cool and quiet, again with great views. Please don't be put off by the bad reviews, go with an open mind and realistic expectations for what you are paying. This is a hotel for 'travellers' who want to experience the old town charms and be within easy walking of a plethora of great restaurants and bars. Not for holidaymakers who want to sit around the pool and be 'entertained' all day. We travelled with Easyjet holidays and this was the cheapest option on offer in Tenerife, you really would not be able to stay for 3 nights in the UK for the price of a week here and we are so glad we were not staying in some high rise, charecterless 'resort'.
