Hotel Marquesa

Sentral historisk hotell. Et historisk fint hotell. Veldig sentralt til promenaden og sentrum av gode spisesteder! De rimeligste rom henger etter vedlikeholdsmessig og når det gjelder utsikt. De beste rommene med veranda er fine med utsikt i byen. Anbefaler oppgraderte rom. Hyggelige ansatte. Har brukt Marquesa to ganger.

the room I had in the hotel was small and basic but adequate..(507) it was cleaned every day, bins emptied, beds made and fresh towels given. Unfortunately the balcony was little more than a shelf and had the extractor pipe from the kitchen next to the balcony doors which made a lot of noise, on a few occasions they didn’t turn it off during the night and I was kept awake by it. There was no information about the availability of Aircon. It was extremely hot and I had to have the patio doors open, on hindsight if I knew the Aircon was free I would’ve used it. This is a very old hotel (which makes it so beautiful) but as such the walls are extremely thin. You do hear a lot of noise from the surrounding rooms. It was fairly quiet while I was here and only had one incident of Next Door unfortunately having an argument that went on for hours, possibly if I stayed here during the high season, I would definitely take ear plugs. The hotel was absolutely beautiful. I would definitely stay here again. The breakfast was basic, the hot food was cold, but the croissants were absolutely delicious, if you ask they will make you an omelette while you wait which ensures you have something hot and freshly cooked which was great. Maid service was very good and our room was cleaned, bins emptied and fresh towels every day... The location of the hotel is outstanding. Absolutely perfect it faces a beautiful square on which stands a lovely church who’s bells chime every 15 minutes (they stop at 10pm) beautiful old hotel that retains its beautiful charm and architecture. It’s like being in an Agatha Christie novel! Make sure you take the stairs next to reception up to the first floor lounge, It’s a big open space with wood panels and a beautiful wooden ceiling. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and polite. I spoke to several receptionists and their English was brilliant. Don’t let a few negatives put you off staying at this hotel. It’s old worldly charm and perfect location makes up for the few negative points.

Hotel for an old one was fine, very picturesque and interesting architecture in the central square. Lots of restaurants and beaches nearby. Lovely town to explore and buses are cheap and offer a very good service to other places. The only thing letting this hotel down, in my opinion is the breakfast. Same daily choices, cold cooked breakfast, processed cheese and meat, coffee not good at all and juice was more like squash. Nice churros and bread rolls, jam was cheap pre packed portions, butter and honey ok.

We were on a budget yet found this truly amazing Marquesa Hotel with its magnificent interior.... just minutes from the main square and all the local bars, restaurants and shops. Our room was spacious enough, with a balcony and a priceless sea view. My girlfriend suffers with back pain and the brand new mattresses on our twin beds were too firm for her, so we asked reception for help. Upon our return from a perfect first day out, the maids had put a massive, soft topper across the two twin beds, turning them into a giant soft super king size bed. We couldn't thank them enough. The surrounding area is so picturesque, lots of lovely murals painted on the walls of unique houses and structures. The beaches have soft black sand. It's cheap to buy stuff, 3 euros for a great pint, and my girlfriend let the softness of the bed go to her head and proceeded to buy 9 dresses in 6 days!! - an awesome short holiday, and we'll enjoy going back someday. While there, if you like a great night out, then visiting The Molly Malone is compulsory - just a 5-minute walk from the hotel, we found ourselves in there 3 of our 6 nights. On the last night, Brendan the host made sure we got a free drink - it should have been the other way around 5 stars all the way

Increíble hotel e increíble servicio. Muy amable el director, siempre dispuesto a ayudar. Volvería una y otra vez. Hotel muy céntrico, y las habitaciones amplias y bonitas aunque antiguas. Desayuno y cenas también me han gustado aunque el comedor no es muy grande.

Have recently returned from a 10 day stay at the Hotel Marquesa. We were really looking forward to its character and charm and were not disappointed. The reception area was beautiful and the hotel is in an excellent location. Our room with balcony was fine, big comfy bed and great shower. Unfortunately WI-FI was NOT available in the bedroom - disregarding what the hotel might tell you! Things went downhill rapidly when we started to use the dining facilities - it was a joke! The food was awful and COLD - yes I am aware that there is a microwave to warm the food - this only proves they are aware of the problem. Soggy Brussels and tinned carrots leftovers from previous evening were served at breakfast. Bacon so thin that when cooked was hard and inedible, toast machine constantly getting stuck and burning, coffee gross. Meat in the evening dishes was tough and inedible I could go on and on but I think you get the idea! And to top it all there just wasn’t enough staff! We were only able to order drinks with our meal on two occasions as there were no staff. We had to clear tables and sort out our own tablecloth and cutlery on several occasions. Eventually the management saw what was going on, and we saw them walking around the dining room looking very grim and next day things did improve 2 lovely young women started who worked REALLY hard to try to keep up but they needed MORE help. When I go on holiday one of the things I really enjoy is having my meals cooked for me - but at the hotel it was no enjoyment. Please don’t start to using the “ we are only a 3 star hotel” The star rating is for amenities, quality of service and guest service. I think your hotel is at best a 2 star I am not in the habit of writing reviews but on this occasion I just had to warn other people I, like other saved hard for our holiday and it was completely spoilt I
