We booked our holiday at Maris Grand in Cyprus through Jet2 Holidays, primarily for the advertised waterpark, expecting a family-friendly experience perfect for our infants. Unfortunately, the hotel was shockingly unprepared for guests, and the waterpark was entirely unsuitable for young children, making this one of the most disappointing holidays we’ve ever had. Below is a detailed account of our experience. The biggest letdown was the waterpark, which was the main reason we chose this hotel. The kids’ pool was closed during our entire stay, forcing us to visit the sister hotel which was not suitable for children under three and had no available beds by the time we arrived via the first bus drop-off. This completely undermined the purpose of our holiday. The hotel’s unpreparedness was evident from the start: kids’ activities like face painting only became available in the last couple of days, suggesting the hotel wasn’t ready for guests when we arrived. On arrival, we were given just two stale sandwiches, left out all day, to share between three people—hardly a warm welcome. Basic amenities were lacking or poorly managed. No information pack was provided at check-in, leaving us clueless about the hotel’s facilities. We received only one room key, with extras requiring a 10-euro deposit, which was inconvenient. Bottled water wasn’t available, and we were told to buy it from a supermarket, unacceptable for an all-inclusive plus package. There was no microwave access for baby food or sterilizing until the final day, when microwaves magically appeared at the pool bar, despite the Jet2 rep claiming they weren’t allowed in Cyprus hotels. The room safe had no operating instructions, requiring staff assistance that a simple sign could have prevented. Family-specific facilities were particularly disappointing. The cots were old, worn, and unsafe, with ill-fitting mattresses that left dangerous gaps for infants. There were no dairy-free or gluten-free options for babies with allergies, and staff couldn’t provide any allergy information. The kids’ disco, advertised for 8:30pm, was only held on certain nights, leading to a wasted evening and upset children. The overall entertainment was poor and oddly located in the reception area. In the à la carte restaurant, our two-year-old was unfairly told to be quiet for minimal noise, and the menu was limited—one starter, one dessert (no ice cream)—with the restaurant struggling to serve just three tables. The all-inclusive plus package was a letdown. We were given white wristbands at check-in, but bar staff claimed black wristbands were needed for branded spirits, which were served begrudgingly in small measures. Drink options were limited, and there was no ice cream in the restaurants. Families were also banned from bringing outside food, a major issue when the lunch options weren’t suitable for kids. The main pool, while heated and at a good temperature, had debris that caused injuries to several guests, requ
