THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU We only stayed one night in this beautiful family hotel but Giovanni has been the best host of our Italy road trip. Very kind, always ready to do everything he can to make our stay memorable, and he did ! The breakfast was amazing, with a beautiful view on the sea. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the little balcony with the view was amazing. And the free shuttle from the Hotel to Positano was a big advantage of the hotel too. Thank you for everything ! We’ll definitely come back if we visit Positano again !

We had friends staying across the street, so it couldn't have been any more convenient for us. But the owners absolutely make this place. I'm not sure they ever sleep, but we appreciated it. They chatted with us over coffee in the morning and the extra couple of lemoncellos before bed. Had figs from the garden for breakfast. Lovely view of the water. As I would say with most of our hotels in Italy, if you're looking for Houston or Miami hotel level of AC, you'll be disappointed. LOL. But worked well enough to get a nice sleep.

My wife and I recently stayed at Al Barilotto Del Nonno Hotel just outside of Positano. It was a great experience. It is a small, family-run boutique hotel with spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and beautiful views from large private balconies. But what really sets it apart was the wonderful personal service we received from people like Giovanni (1 of 5 family members), who has served at the hotel for over 50 years. He provided expert guidance and help regarding bus and ferry schedules, nearby restaurants, and best routes/use of time. Beyond that, he personally drove us to a nearby restaurant, and to Positano to make sure that we caught a boat on time. BTW, the breakfasts were delicious (the fresh-squeezed pear juice and winter melons were to die for), and the setting was great -- a beautiful 2nd floor garden-like patio overlooking the bay below. But again, it was Giovanni who made our stay so memorable. His wisdom, sense-of-humor, and pride in what he and his family have worked so hard to achieve, came through in several conversations on the breakfast patio and in the unique and beautiful lobby. If we return to Positano, we will definitely stay at "At Grandfather's Barrel" Hotel again, and renew our friendship with Giovanni!
