The Crescent, Gunwharf Quay, Portsmouth

Overall this one week stay was very disappointing, overpriced and uncomfortable. We booked a one bedroom unit with balcony and got a unit with a shared terrace and no view, with a door that we couldn’t close without calling the property managers. Effectively not what what we paid for. We asked to transfer to a one bedroom with balcony but were told that this wasn’t possible. On the positive side, the location was good, the Wifi excellent and the bed comfortable. Unfortunately there were many problems with presentation and maintenance. We slept poorly due to bright lights on all night on the shared terrace (needs proper blockout blinds). The appliances were cheap. The standard of cleaning was inadequate particularly the bathroom and there was a strange smell. Two of the three lights above the kitchen area weren’t working and one had exposed wiring. The kitchen floor had cracked tiles. The presentation of the apartment was shoddy eg no bath mat, two pillows stuffed into one pillow case, lights not working - the list could go on. The property managers supplied some missing items and replaced a broken clothes dryer but didn’t really address the more basic problems. In sum, not a luxury unit as advertised - more like a very tired and poorly maintained Airbnb.
