The Harbour House Sea Front Hotel

Staff were friendly enough until we had a problem in the room. Tv not working and the manager asks” are you going to be annoyed if this doesn’t work” not quite what we expected to hear on our first visit ended up having to fix it ourselves

**Do not book here, especially on the weekend, if you want a decent sleep** Unfortunately we were unaware at point of booking with *********** that their was live music on certain nights. You would however assume that if a venue with accommodation hosted live music the rooms would have some sort of sound proofing. Our bedroom was vibrating with the music, could hear every word of the song and the base actually made our ears hurt. The venue on arrival said live music 9pm until 'late' with no set finishing time. Honestly, after spending money on both the room and a meal, we would not return. Disappointed is an understatement.

Hi i would like to thank the staff at this hotel from the receptionist to the bar staff to the catering staff our stay their was fantastic yes their was a weeding party and a little loud music just what you want for a weekend we stayed 2 nights 15 guys for the golf we had a great time yes we would stay their again all the staff are a credit to portpatrick

We had an evening meal here and the whole experience was great. We were impressed with the cheerful relaxed service we received and the food was well cooked and presented and provided good value for money. We would certainly go back if we are ever in the area again. The beautiful sunset capped off a great evening.

Today waited at the bar 5 mins nobody came, went outside asked a waitress who was chatting to a couple if you order food out here,she broke of chatting to say order at bar ,I said iv waited 5 mins she shrugged her shoulders,I said don't worry will go somewhere else ,would I go back certainly not.

The main reason room 1 has old cobwebs hanging from ceiling light shade so clearly cleaning not done properly. The room was also small for a double and looks like 2 single beds pushed together The food in restaurant was nice but the cooked breakfast was dire, very dry on the plus side poached eggs were perfect. One of the biggest bug bears we prefer to pay cash and we were told by the lovely young ladies who greeted us on arrival said we could pay by cash as long as we had the correct money but when we went to pay at the bar was told no card only.. very disappointing. We paid our bill by card but was not happy. We went outside on the steps and a barman or maybe a manager (tall with black hair) put his head around the door and in my opinion very rudely demanded to know who told us we could pay by card.... we enjoyed Portpatrick but if we return will not stay at this hotel. Only 2 stars given as a very poor experience

Had a lovely lunch here, the young lady who served us was friendly and helpful. The dining area looked directly over the sea. Food was tasty and hot, GF option was excellent. The bonus is there is also a lovely cafe for coffee and cake. Would definitely recommend.

Stopped here for lunch today and was disappointed. 1 hour wait to get our food. Other tables were in the same position and visibly annoyed. The place wasn’t even busy, would hate to see the service on a busy summers day. Nice view. That’s all. Go elsewhere

On arrival had a nightmare to park the car, the girl checking us in was friendly but basically not bothered that there was nowhere to park. We paid £280 for 2 nights, we had a room at the top of the hotel that would be great if your under 5ft as ceilings are sloped in the room & the hallway leading to the room, we continuously hit our head in the room & had to stoop most of the time. The previous occupants clothes were still in the wardrobe that I advised on reception & was still there when we left ! Breakfast was barely warm & the cheapest sausage , potato scone you could get. Coffee was vile & the guy who was the waiter looked like he didn’t want to be there, I stood waiting for a glass of water while he & 2 others argued amongst themselves. Now I know ( after seeing other reviews, the hotel will not agree with any of my comments, as they appear to say this on every review) but unless they do something I would imagine they don’t get repeat custom. Loved Portpatrick but think there are probably much nicer hotels then this 1.
