Hampton Inn Portland Downtown - Waterfront

The hotel was advertising that it was waterfront which it was not and the staff wasn’t very helpful at times.

Over the years, we have stayed at the Hampton Inn chain in many places in the US and Canada. It was our go-to chain knowing we would have a clean room, good amenities and comfortable beds at a reasonable price. It’s been about 4 years since we traveled. The quality of the Hampton Inn has declined while the prices are higher. We were given complimentary 2 bottles of water. The room needed a good carpet wash. It smelled musty. The chair was broken; my brother almost fell over backwards onto the floor. The staff brought us a new chair right away. The beds were OK. The thermostat had a setting for fan on, but it did not work. The staff just set the temperature to 68 degrees. So, we returned the setting to 73 and lived with the fan only working when the cooling was on. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel. The hotel is in a good location for visiting Old Port Portland. A lot of the main attractions, restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance. You pay for the proximity, not the quality of the room. This hotel was one of the most expensive we stayed in - $450 per night.

This hotel has a nice location close to downtown restaurants. The room was nice and comfortable with a view of the water. It was a little drizzly but not enough to keep us in. Being a desert dweller rain is sort of nice. We dined on the obligatory lobster dinner at the waterfront and strolled back to hotel. Would definitely stay again if ever we find ourselves back in NE.

We booked this hotel while on our roadtrip of the east coast thinking we could trust the hotel brand name. It was in a great location but our experience was less than ideal to say the least. First, they report that they REQUIRE you to do valet parking and pay $40 for it on top of your hotel cost. This was annoying but we moved on from this and were excited to get some sleep. However, there was BLOOD on our sheets in our hotel room! We called the front desk immediately who said they would bring us new sheets right away and hung up, didn't show much concern for there being blood by the way. No one came for over 30 minutes, called again, they said they would send housekeeping and hung up. No apologies, no concern still. Housekeeping showed up and changed the sheets (thankfully) but still then put the pillow with the bloody pillow case back on the bed. We were exhausted and so over it at this point so we just went to bed but so incredibly frustrating that the hotel did not care that there was blood on the sheets in a "clean" hotel room. Terrible experience. We will not stay at this hotel chain again.

Standard Hampton in a good location. Very close to many restaurants and other locations. Starbucks three blocks away right next to Holy Donut’s. The reason for the less than 5 stars is the $40 per day valet parking and the noisy refrigerator in our room. Breakfast was standard Hampton. 15 minute drive from airport.

My wife and I stayed for one night at the Hampton Inn Portland Downtown - Waterfront at the end of September 2024. Overall, this is a nice version of a Hampton Inn, offering a comfortable mid-range stay. The location is excellent, right near where the cruise ships dock and in the heart of the Waterfront district. The hotel and public areas were clean, and we had no issues with the prompt check-in process—no wait at all! Our room was clean and cozy, exactly what you would expect. The only small drawback was the lack of a TV guide or channel list, which made navigating the TV a bit of a hassle. Other than that, we had a pleasant experience.

The Hampton Inn Downtown- Waterfront is very conveniently located, one block back from the Port and from all the restaurants and stores on the street,(Commecial St.) in front of the Port. Parking for the hotel is valet parking. I appreciated that the hotel quickly answered their phone when I called to tell them I would be arriving late due to a major flight delay. This is why I got a room with a king size bed in place of the double bed room I had reserved. The room appeared to be recently remodeled and the bathroom had a walk-in shower with plenty of hot water, no drain issues, and more than enough clean towels. The only meal served at the hotel is self-service breakfast, served until 10 am and with limited choices. However, within the same street block is a breakfast and lunch restaurant with many choices. The air-conditioning and heating worked well and was quiet. Housekeeping did a good job. This Hampton Inn (not the one at the Airport) was a good choice for less cost than the hotels one block closer to the Port and the attractions and restaurants at the port. There did not appear to be any taxis waiting near the hotels, so I called for Lyft cars when I needed transport. At the Airport, I also called a Lyft car since no taxi’s were waiting at night.

The hotel was clean and the employees were friendly. We had plenty of hot water and water pressure. The room had plenty of space and the furniture was in good condition. We enjoyed our stay. The location is convenient and close to shopping and restaurants. The seafood restaurant across the street is good.
