Whalers Cove in Poipu

Beautiful location, friendly and efficient staff. Very clean, very comfortable and very well maintained. Only problem, it would get hot in the evening, needs to air conditioning for evening/sleeping. Otherwise a great place for the whole family to visit.

This was my second trip to Kauai and my first time staying at Whalers cove. We stayed in room 117 on the bottom floor. Open the sliding doors and the next stop is the ocean. What a view! Drinking coffee on the Lanai and watching whales pass by. Can't beat it. Wonderful staff at Whalers from the front desk to the maintenance crew. Shops, beach and food within walking distance. A week in Whalers Cove tops a month at many other vacation locations! From checkin to checkout the staff was friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable about the property and the community. Alexsis and Aileen (reception desk) were our go-to persons for all our needs on site and info about the island. Marianne (manager) was on top of all the activities and interests of the guests staying on site. At sunset the south lawn was a gathering place for folks to watch the sun go down and share conversations about their experiences. It was a great opportunity to meet and share stories with fellow travelers. On 2 evenings we got the bonus of whales breaching off shore while the sun set. A daily walk to the end of the parking lot saw turtles in the adjacent inlet. Suite 210 is ground level with a lanai that has a view of the hot tub, pool, and ocean beyond. Actually the view through the sliding doors was just as magnificent without stepping outside. So every meal on site came with a view whether we ate at the table inside or on the lanai outside. This suite has apparently recently had upgrades such as the living areas (large screen tvs in the living room and both bedrooms) came with cable and internet service, the kitchen ( new cabinetry and the cabinets were loaded with dishes, appliances, pots, pans, etc to make meals in-house and save on restaurant excursions), and the bathrooms. The suite walls have interesting photos by the owner as well as artwork by local artists to give a tropical vibe to the unit. You will have a true tropical experience in Whalers Cove!

Basically all of the reviews you read are accurate; this property has great views of the ocean; has a good location, and is very quiet; the condo's are large and have everything you need......other than air conditioning. Unfortunately the dew point in Kauai can get pretty high along with the temps, and it can be rainy at night,. This means you have to keep all of your sliding doors open to get any air flow at all to cool off - and the rain can wake you up in the middle of the night with all door/windows open. I should mention that Marianne was incredibly helpful and responsive to all communications and was willing to help in any way, so the service was great.

We had a wonderful stay in this perfectly situation condo. The condo has everything you need and is spacious and comfortable. The owners are delightful and responsive people. The Whaler’s Cove staff was fabulous. Hope to return next year!

We live in Finland and met our friends who live in Oregon for Thanksgiving at Whalers Cove. It was a wonderful location for the reunion and the facilities were outstanding. Our girls enjoyed the pool and hot tub, we loved the views (and sightings: whales, dolphins, and turtles from our balcony) and being able to go snorkeling right from the property. It was close to walk to shopping and dining. The accommodations were spacious and well-maintained. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Definitely our future Thanksgiving reunion spot!
