Gran Castillo Tagoro Family & Fun Playa Blanca

My family and so visited last week & in terms of the pool and entertainment for the kids i couldn’t fault it. Our son had a blast, multiple pools, 2 slides, poolside entertainment, a pirate foam party and lots to keep him occupied. Let’s talk food - Oh dear. They do not cater for people who are coeliac or gluten intolerant at all which massively limits what you have available to you. We were all inclusive & breakfast was pretty good. Lunch and dinner gets very samey very quickly. The dinning room is SO loud so go to the overflow for a more quiet experience. Meal times gets very busy so the earlier the better for less of a Zoo type feel. Some staff were fantastic, friendly & helpful - others not so much. Portefino dinning room onsite was IMPOSSIBLE to book into, however when we did it was a huge disappointment! Not suitable for children really and a very small restricted menu. The service here was also very poor and food was not enjoyable so i wouldn’t stress if you can’t get into here. Believe it or not the main dinning room is better by miles. There’s a few shops, a super market, soft play, park and shops a 5 min walk outside of the hotel which was great and all very welcoming. The rooms are dated. The views from the suites are lush which cannot be denied however decor is dates and all rooms are incredibly basic but they do the job just fine. Evening entertainment was great, something for everyone. Kids club looked great too however not entirely ASD friendly so be mindful if you’re a neurodiverse family. Generally it was a great holiday, a few downfalls but nothing that spoilt our holiday too severely. I wouldn’t go back in all honesty but we still had a blast. Oh and 20 mins walk and you’re in the marina which is BEAUTIFUL!

Brilliant hotel for a family, entertainment throughout the day, food was also great both for adults and little ones. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and spacious and the sea view from the room was perfect l.

We took the triplets on their very first family holiday during May half term. We chose the hotel mainly for our 10yr old son as it had video games, water slides, and fun for him. There is a playground for kids too and multiple pools of various depths so it had something for everyone. We went half board rather than all inclusive and paid for the drinks and snacks. It came to far less than we would have paid all inclusive so it’s worth doing if you’re not a big drinker. The staff are all really helpful and friendly and got anything we needed for the babies including three cots all the same for them in our room. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The housekeeping staff are so kind and help out with tidying round as well. In the restaurant they were so helpful bringing chairs, bottles of water and allowing the babies to make a mess. I was asked more than once to relax and not clean up after the kids but that’s just who I am so I still did what I could. Unfortunately there were a couple of things we struggled with. The pool suitable for babies is tiny. About a metre across by two metres long. The other pools go a lot deeper and when you have more than one baby to try and keep hold off it’s not really practical. Also the children’s club is where the soft play is located but babies are not allowed in. A young family was there when we were and they were asked by staff to leave with their 10month old. In the middle of the day there’s nowhere for babies to go out of the sun and given there were no other kids there it seemed unfair to ask them to leave. The baby area was either unavailable or had been abandoned as it was closed the entire time we are there. The little playground was secure but there was only a couple of bouncer toys and a wooden house. Maybe adding a slide or some little toys would be better. It just seemed empty. However it was undercover so did offer shade. The inside area was completely empty though and that could have been utilised a lot more as we were surrounded by babies and toddlers The lifts are not suitable for a large double pushchair and definitely not for a triple buggy or pram. I had to lift it sideways by myself sometimes due to it fitting in the lift but not allowing anyone else in the lift to help. My buggy is damaged because of this as three one year olds and a 20kg buggy is a lot for one person to lift. We will return I imagine when the slides are finished and the triplets are a bit older.

Very happy with my stay here. It is a family friendly hotel that is deceptively large, the layout design is something I've never seen before and can take a little time to get your bearings. It is in a great location with a lovely walk down the coastal path to the marina which is beautiful. The rooms are large and comfortable enough, with a free safe and fridge. I've seen reviews that say they just maintain the temperature but we found that it did cool water and after sun well. Our in room coffee/milk station wasn't restocked every day, and weirdly one day the cleaner removed our second card key kept in the door to maintain the temperature, I tracked her down in the hallway and got it back but made sure to keep all valuables in the locked safe just in case. Food was great, plenty of different themes of cuisines each night without being overwhelming. Wasn't expecting 5* food but it was fresh, and we didnt go hungry. Breakfast selection was excellent, with fresh meat, fish and seafood being on offer for main meal times. Tony adopted us as our server and he made our stay. He was friendly and very attentive restocking our drinks without being asked. The pool areas are great, we mainly stayed in the kids or adults section as the main pool looked very busy and without padded cushions. The evening entertainment wasn't the greatest compared to other places I've stayed but our little traveller enjoyed it. I'd be happy to recommend to families and would consider returning 😊

We recently stayed at the Gran Castillo in Lanzarote for the second time. While it’s advertised as a 5-star resort, it feels more like a 3-star by Irish standards. It's definitely a hotel for families with young children. I wouldn't recommend it for couples or families with older/teenage children. Positives: • Our kids (aged 7 and 5) had a fantastic time, which made the trip enjoyable overall. • The variety of food was impressive, with something to suit everyone each day. • The Italian restaurant on-site was excellent and a real highlight of our stay. • All restaurant staff were outstanding—hardworking, attentive, and friendly. They really deserve recognition. • The animation team was energetic and brilliant with the children. • Poolside entertainment and games were great fun and well-organised. • The acrobatics show was absolutely brilliant and a standout evening event. • The location is ideal, with a scenic walk along the coast leading to the Marina. • Staff across the resort were warm and helpful. • Restaurant staff were great and arranged coeliac food for my wife each night. All foods were clearly labelled with allergens Negatives: • The rooms are basic and don’t meet the expectations of a 5-star hotel. Limited space due to sofa bed being used for 2 children. • The balcony in room 3259 has a dangerously low wall—not safe, especially with young children. (Not that I'd ever let a child be alone on a balcony) • The balcony only had two chairs and a small table—not suitable for a family of four. • The kids’ dragon pool is tired and in need of refurbishment. One of the slides wasn’t operational due to a lack of water flowing down it. Kids still enjoyed it, though. • Water dispensers around the resort were out of order for a couple of days, which wasn’t ideal in the heat. (Water bottles were available at the bars but were not chilled) • The gym wasn't great. with limited equipment. Some of the cable machines were broken. • Uneven paving throughout the resort created numerous trip hazards. Adults only area in need of some care, too. Broken boards causing trip hazards. • Construction noise near the adults-only pool disrupted the otherwise relaxing area. • The photography team was persistently approaching guests to take pictures. This became annoying after a while, especially considering the high prices for purchasing the photos. • The pillows in the beds are dreadful. It's way too high and hard. • Soap and shower gels not topped up regularly enough. Tips 1. Avoid room 3259 purely because of the balcony 2. Book your final day courtesy room with reception well in advance of your last day. 3. Have dinner in the overflow sort of area in the buffet. It's quieter and less hectic. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and appreciated many aspects—particularly how well the kids were entertained and the efforts of the staff. However, we feel our children have now outgrown what the resort offers, and due to the standard of accommodation and a few ongoing

The welcome on arrival and from all staff during our stay was fantastic! Room large and spacious. Food in general was ok. We went daily to adults only pool area which was peaceful and away from the noise of the main pool area and castleland. Good luck trying to bed a sun lounger there ! However, the adults only area is in bad need of repair. There are many boards broken and left open to a trip hazard. Not what I would expect from a 5 star rated hotel. There is a bar for drinks but no snack bar at the adult only pool area , you need to go back to the main pool area, which can be very busy .
