Hotel Mirador Papagayo by LIVVO

Me and a friend (both males) who are both in our early 50's decided to go away for some winter sun. We chose the all inclusive option with the Mirador Papagayo and we were not disappointed. This hotel is fantastic! Lovely and clean, the rooms spacious. The staff, food excellent. The pool and spa just perfect. I would go back in a heartbeat and probably will. Playa Blanca which was about a 45min walk along a nice coastal path and is lovely. The weather at the end of February was just right. Not too hot and I came back to the U.K with a really nice tan as well. Can't fault this location and hotel. Thank you hotel Mirador Papagayo for a very refreshing and relaxing week. Hopefully see you all again someday.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Pool area is great with plenty of sun loungers any time of the day. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Breakfast is really nice with plenty of choice for everyone. We stayed half board. Evening meals are ok if you can’t be bothered going out or like canteen type food. We prefer to eat out so only had it for a back up. Walk into Marina Rubicon is 15 mins then another 15 into Playa Blanca itself. Lovely walks along the promenade. Hyperdino across the road plus a nice Indian restaurant. Papagayo shopping centre is a 5 minute walk away with same nice bars and eateries. We had a lovely holiday and would stay again.

To sum this hotel up, I would say it's a 3 star hotel with 5 star views. The views are absolutely stunning and the hotel is just a 10/15 minute walk from the beautiful Marina Rubicon. The pool area is lovely. Spacious, lots of sunbeds and great views yet again. We had a junior suite with sea views which was spacious, the balcony had chairs and sunbeds. The bed was large and comfortable along with the pillows and bedding. It was also great to have a walk in wardrobe. The room was however quite dated and to be honest not that clean. It was in need of modernising (marks on the walls and furniture, tears in the curtains and also a hole in a bed sheet!) The bathroom was also very tired, dark and had no extractor fan meaning it was very steamy, the shower was also not in great condition. The air conditioning was also very poor, we had both units on and it was still hot. Bearing in mind it was March not the heat of summer. By far the biggest disappointment was the food and restaurant. Which was essentially like a school canteen. The food was basic but also bland, dry, luke warm and generally not well cooked. I think if you can't even cook an egg or chips you have no place in a kitchen. The restaurant was noisy, chaotic, dull and a very uninspiring place to be. I hated being in there. We had breakfast and dinner ( half board) and the menu was largely the same daily. Even the desserts. which looked largely bought in, were tasteless and bland. Quite honestly people staying at the hotel deserve better than the rubbish being served up. I didn't expect Michelin Star, just basic food cooked well. But basic food cook badly is unforgivable. We walked to the marina which has lots of restaurants so we didn't have to eat in there as much. I would certainly not go back to this hotel. The good points are simply out weighed by the bad. Let's not forget that this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel! I have no idea how it has achieved it. And looking at the past feedback it would appear nobody is acting on the feedback given.

Generally the hotel is very clean, loads of sunbeds around a large heated pool with jacuzzi etc. Not a lot close to the hotel a HyperDino Supermarket and an Indian Restaurant a few hundred yards away, tried the Indian and it was OK. 15/20 min lovely coastal walk to Rubicon Marina where there's loads of restraunts and designer shops so not the cheapest but a lovely area. Approx another 20 min walk takes you to Playa Blanca and its beaches shops etc another very pleasant walk. The hotel does put a bus on I think twice a day to Playa Dorada which helps but I havent walked so much for a while but enjoyable. As for hotel it's seafront location is the main focus of the hotel. Staff are mostly very pleasant and Daniel at the Lobby Bar is a very nice guy. The only let downs for me is the evening entertainment is generally very poor and the hotel food. You have wait in the front of the dining room to be seated by I assume the Head Waiter. It felt like I was back at school and very annoying. The food generally in my and many others opinion quite poor for a 4 star hotel. It was often cold and nothing seemed to match up to make up a decent meal. Drinks coffee etc were pretty good but food even breakfast was a let down. As stated a lovely hotel formerly an Iberostar but food and entertainment would deter me from returning sadly.

Excelente hotel, servicio muy regular Buen Hotel y muy bien ubicado, la limpieza de las habitaciones no era buena, en el Resto del complejo si estaba limpio, el SPA merece un 10/10. El servicio del personal en los restaurantes y bares no era muy ameno.

Absolutely fantastic 4* Hotel .Myself and daughter stayed for 4 nights and didn’t want to leave . Great location , immaculately clean and hot buffet food with plenty of choice and continuously re plenished, also long meal times too which I thought was good.loved how you could refill water bottles for free with the numerous machines dotted about ( always have to pay for water wherever we’ve been before ) and help yourself to water with your meals when half board option.We had a family room in the annexe which worked so well for us , I had a twin room to myself whilst daughter ( 23yr old) had the entire lounge to herself which had two modern sofa bed's and above ample space having full fridge little freezer , all cooking equipment etc .Little thing but first time we’ve been abroad and had full range of English tv channels Even the shower gel smelt divine We had a morning in the exquisite Spa, it was out of this world ,lovely calming music and Insence burning that adds that extra calming touch . Everything’s been thought of here , the little touches that stand out and make for an exceptional holiday .Cannot recommend enough,loved everything about this hotel !
