Caybeach Papagayos

Had a brilliant week in Caybeach Papagayos. The apartment was spotless and very comfortable. The pool is heated although not warm but the kids didn’t seem to be bothered by it. Nice walk from there to the marina, takes about half an hour if you go down the path opposite to the right of the bus stop and keep going. That path will also take you to the shopping centre you can see from the pool. Not being a fan of the hustle and bustle of playa Blanca other than a quick visit, this location was ideal for us and we couldn’t have asked for more. Due to a late flight we were able to secure late check out and if felt like we got an extra day!

The first thing I should say is if I could have given a 3.5 rating then I would have as while I wouldn’t rate the hotel as a 4 it probably deserves more than a 3 rating so I’ll try to lists the pros and cons in my review which hopefully goes some way to explain this. The hotel was very clean and the bedrooms had plenty of cupboard space and a safe which was 1.80 euros per day and a 9 euro deposit. The kitchen also had plenty of cupboard space and enough utensils, plates, glasses etc for 2 to 4 people. There was a kettle, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, toaster and a 2 ring electric hob which was enough for our requirements which was breakfast and a sandwich at lunchtime. We ate out on the evenings. There is a large pool and large pool area which again was very clean and getting sunbeds was no trouble at all. This is also a good point to start laying out the things that were not so good for us. Whilst the sunbeds were plentiful they had seen better days and finding one that clicked in to place when raising or lowering the backrest was a challenge. This meant that every time you tried to move on the sunbeds the back flipped up. The other gripe about the pool area was the lack of a bar. There is one but it’s shut and there is no vending machine meaning that there are no snacks available or indeed just a cool drink without heading to your room. Back to the rooms, the sofa bed in the living room had seen better days and indeed the bottom stuck out as it didn’t shut properly. This wasn’t a problem for us but may be for anyone who had a third person staying in the room. The bath and shower were our main issue though. The shower screen had a gap under it and the shower was very powerful which meant the hand towels were used to mop the floor after each shower. The shower head was a 1980’s off white plastic type and the spray wasn’t adjustable. Finally the location was a bit out of the way but we knew that when we booked. There is a small commercial centre about 5 mins away with a Hyper Dino Express that stocked everything we needed. There are a few bars and restaurants which were all very friendly but all closed at least one night per week. Alfie’s Bar and Kitchen, Paulos’s Sport Bar and Las Colarados are all recommended and very friendly. The Marina Rubicon is a 25 min walk away and was much livelier with plenty of shops,bars and restaurants. Finally there is a bus service that runs every half an hour from the front of the hotel which take you to the Marina and into Playa Blanca itself which seemed very popular.

Air conditioning was best ive had. TV channels or lack of, is only thing that lets it down. Most in German. Not one UK channel. No Netfix either. Rooms are fine. Could do with a laundry room for longer stays.

We are both pensioners and had a lovely ten days, can't fault it.There is a bus stop directly outside to wherever you want to go,we caught it most days mainly for Harbour or Marina,nice long promenade with loads of bars and restaurants, taking around ten minutes, for a couple of Euros.

This was a fabulous apartment block. We stayed in room 3051 and had a fantastic uninterrupted view of the sea. The balconies are huge and very private on the second level upwards. There is a 24 hour reception and all the staff are helpful. There is no bar or restaurant on the premises but there are several within a 5 min walk. There is also a small supermarket in the same area. There is a bus every 30mins which stops directly outside the apartments and only costs €1.40 to go into Playa Blanca. Taxis are also cheap at around €5 per journey. The beds are very comfortable and there are good built in wardrobes with plenty of hanging space (including hangers) and lots of shelf space too. The pool was never busy and plenty of sunbeds always available. The blackout curtains are really good in the bedroom and keep the rooms cool. There is no road noise at all so the apartments are very quiet at night. We really enjoyed our stay at these apartments, so much so that we have already booked to go back next January!
