We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Lux-Me White Palace. Firstly, the positives, the professional friendly waiting staff really cannot do enough and the hotel was very clean, that's where the positives stop. The management exercise a ploy of giving you the wrong room on arrival (2am) so that when you challenge their error, they offer you an upgrade (this practice was confirmed by our rep and our neighbours on either side of our room). In our case we booked a swim up White room and were given a room without a swim up pool and we were informed our only option to change rooms would be to pay an upgrade of €450/night! Following a heated discussion at reception the following morning, we eventually unpacked in the correct room, 11 hours after arrival, at no point did anyone from reception apologise for our inconvenience or poor start to our holiday. When we declined the €450.00 per night upgrade, they placed us in room 638 next to the noisy and busy main road to the rear of the hotel and directly adjacent to the deliveries entrance. All the swim up pools on the rear are open to road noise, goods deliveries (reversing beepers) to the rear hotel entrance, staff arriving and leaving at all hours on mopeds, industrial bins being emptied at 6am and in our case a large pool filter system running 24/7. After 2 sleepless night we complained to the duty manager who stated, "you should have checked google earth and seen the existence of the road". We challenged this ridiculous statement and asked if we had checked google earth, how would we know in advance which room would be allocated to us prior to arrival, to which he had no answer and only then agreed to move us to another room. Our next room 309 was on the opposite side of the hotel beneath a pool and very damp with an acrid smell that takes your breath away. The corridor had an industrial air freshener to mask the smell but the room was only habitable with the patio doors wide open for fresh air. The front garden also had two exposed drain covers which no other rooms had along the same side of the hotel. When we contacted the duty manager about the damp problem, he acknowledged our concerns and immediately and stated he would have DEHUMIDIFIER placed in the room within 10 minutes. He stated the hotel was full and there were no other rooms available. It amazed us that a 5-star hotel operating in 25 degrees would have a dehumidifier on standby, especially when there had been no significant rainfall since April. We subsequently emptied the dehumidifier every 4-5 hours as the cleaning staff did not know how to operate it and failure to empty it resulted in the unit switching off. The a la carte restaurants served very good food but are open to the elements so as the evening temperature drops and the wind gets up the staff supply blankets; however, the food becomes cold very quickly and before you can finish the plate. The main buffet is bland with warm food and the lack of staff ensures used plates sta
