Hacienda la Rusa

This place was so cute! We booked the king suite and it overlooked the pool. Room was very large and the shower was 10/10. The place was very peaceful and the staff was so kind and accommodating. It was right next to the beach and the grocery store plus tons of restaurants were nearby on the beach. I would definitely return!

I am never one to complain, but I wouldn't stay here again. Pros: comfortable beds Good internet except for the great room at the street end of the property. Excellent proximity to town with food stores and restaurants right next door. Excellent proximity to ocean being directly behind the property. Excellent parking right behind the property. Air conditioned except for one room above the kitchen. Staff on site for cleaning and meals if you want to pay for them. Cons: the layout of this place is very roomy, but it's a concrete jungle, there is zero green space to sit under a tree or connect to anything resembling grass There is zero room to sit near the pool under a tree due to the terrible design here There is tons of space to have your own space, which makes sense when renting the rooms to multiple guests, but is a total waste when staying here as a large family The hot water shower in the great room at the street was only hot 50% of the time Bring bug spray as the entire area, not just this place has mosquito and no-see-ums. Not the worst, but be prepared. Overall, a fine vacation but if you want to lay in the shade and be a part of nature without leaving this place, this is not the place.

Excellent location for access to a beautiful beach that is never crowded.

This IS a beautiful place. It seems like a paradise. Everything, the rooms, the decor, garden. But there's one problem. Your reservation can be cancelled by the owner at a moment's notice, and two weeks after you've made your reservation you suddenly don't have one! This happened to us. They preferred a different client, one that booked the entire hacienda, instead of the tiny party we were -- just a couple of friends And did what no proprietor I've ever encountered even thought o doing -- and that's cancel out two guests who'd booked a room, after having engaged in planning with them, writing back and forth warmly and then like a bad movie, left them with pretty much no place to stay. Since all the other casitas and bungalows had been rented for that period. Enjoy reading the the descriptions but be wary of making a reservation!

I stayed at La Rusa with a broken toe. The staff could not do enough. Meals were brought to me, the smiles were constant. The grounds are marvelous. The pools so clear and clean. I ended up staying for 3 months due to my injury and will be back again.
