Rugged Country Lodge

The manager greeted us with a generously welcome smile which was much appreciated after a 9 hour drive. We appreciated the cleanliness of the room and the convenience of having our truck directly outside for ease of unpacking and packing. I definitely would recommend this hotel for a good nights sleep. Even the train going by brought a sense of ease at the sound. It was enjoyable.

Desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Dinner recommendation was spot on! Room was very clean, quaint and comfortable. Breakfast room had a variety of options, all fresh. Staff member was on-site to help with questions and clean up. Will stay here again.

Rugged Country Lodge is a small, family run hotel with friendly and professional service. The room was quaint and clean…with blackout curtains that helped make for a good sleep. (We did not hear any train until 7:30am.). The breakfast is a small, continental fare. You can walk to the Pendleton Mill in about ten minutes and to town, along the river, in about 30 minutes. (Or, drive there in five.) We would happily stay here again.

We booked this room without knowing a whole lot about the area. Going just on reviews from Trip Advisor. We were traveling quite a ways so we showed up right before 10pm. The parking lot area and building itself are very well lit! I felt safe immediately. When going into the check in area we were greeted by the friendliest staff/owner? He was so extremely helpful in immediately explaining exactly where our room was, how to work the ac/heat if needed, where to find breakfast in the morning, all of it without even having to ask. We went through a door and up the stairs to our room and when we opened the door we were so pleasantly surprised! An EXTREMELY clean room awaited us. I honestly dont know if I have ever been in a hotel/motel that has been so clean. The carpets are "dated" if you look at the kind of thing, but CLEAN, the bathroom tiles are "dated" but VERY clean! I dont care about any of that kind of stuff personally, but for those that do and want to know what to expect. There were even plenty of soaps and shampoos for each of us in the bathroom. The room was warm, and we didnt want to use the AC so we slept with the window open a bit. You could hear a little bit of the traffic from the road, but we were street facing and had that window been closed we wouldnt have heard anything. Someone mentioned hearing the trains. I heard them starting at about 6am, but again I feel this is only because we had the window open. The beds are clean( we did have an issue with the comforter on my Daughters bed having a crusty food spill on it, but we just turned the comforter around and put that at the bottom so it wasnt right in her face). They are semi comfortable if I am being honest. They are springy and we felt like we were rolling to the middle of the bed. This wasnt a huge problem, but we could feel it. So sleep was average for any hotel room. This was a very enjoyable stay! It was affordable, comfortable, VERY clean and we felt safe and very welcomed. We were in room 16.

We were welcomed warmly and loved staying here. It's a charming place that made you feel like you were staying with family. It was clean, had a smart TV, and toiletries. The train does come through and woke us up once a night. It honestly didn't bother us, but it's something to be aware of. Bring a wall charger for your phone, as well. No usb-c plug in. We are so happy to have found this place! It was our first time visiting and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

We asked to check in a little early, my husband is disabled and was more than ready to lie down after being in the car all day. Our room was clean, bed was very comfortable, and I loved the vintage tile in the bathroom. The family that owns the motel is very friendly and helpful. Great place to stay when you are in Pendelton.

This is a unique property. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was a little bit of a let down — bread, yogurt, fruit, mini muffins, and a few hard boiled eggs in addition to coffee with artificial creamer.

Loved this place!! It was very clean and the workers greeted us in a very friendly matter. It felt homey and was easy to relax and get comfortable whilst staying there. It was located and a quaint little town and we enjoyed exploring! This is was an awesome experience and we absolutely loved the staff!

8 weeks of travel with many generic motels - you know the type, 2 levels, parking out front, maybe a breakfast, usual appliances. So why do so many get it wrong whilst Rugged Inn gets it so right? Firstly it just looks right. Tidy, stone Frontage, flowers Starting at Reception - lovely greeting, plenty of local tourist leaflets. Room 5 - this was a downstairs corner room. So, unusually for a Motel double aspect windows and no foot traffic past them Good comfortable bed, linens, towels, toiletries. Usual 5 of electrics - fridge / microwave / coffee machine / TV / hairdryer. Plenty of other usable sockets. And lights that actually give out plenty of light!!! Pictures on wall Impeccably clean. Breakfast classed as continental - coffee/hot water-tea/chocolate, orange juice, 2 cereals, instant porridge, bread/toasters, bagels, cream cheese, yoghurt, apples, mini muffins, cereal bars, hard boil eggs, jams, and marmalade (!!!) And this in a nice eating room Blackout curtains that actually worked Powerful AC/heater Easily the best roadside motel/Inn we have stayed at in the 8 weeks. Oh, and did I mention they had marmalade for my toast? MARMALADE 😁😁😁
