North Parkes Motel

This motel was very comfortable and clean. I arrived very tired and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room had a lovely bed and pillows. The shower was hot and strong. This place had everything I needed.

Terrible Experience. 1. Wifi - when we advised we had no wifi, their response was 'well it was working last week' apparently they called the technician and it came on for 5 minutes and then we gave up. The lady at reception said we could go to MacDonalds for free wifi- at the rate we were paying, I felt that was extremely unprofessional of her. 2. the was a very small 2 seater couch in the room - felt like you were sitting on bricks 3. the shower had a terrible shower head and it was very hard to adjust the water temperature so you either had a cold shower or scalded yourself. 4. From the signs on doors, it appears the motel is used by shift workers. - There is a sign on the door to the room about removing boots on the tiles before entering. 5. There was an indoor pool - didn't look sparkling so I headed down to the aquatic centre - paid my$6 and enjoyed a sparkling clean 50m pool. 6. I think the bed was a double - comfortable enough 7. Curtains were not block out - the light came through the top. 8. upon check out on Saturday morning the office only opened at 9am, there was a very angry gentleman who did not appreciate us knocking on the door. I was going to ask for a partial refund due to the wi-fi issue, but one look at his demeanor and I decided otherwise, he had a very threatening countenance I would not stay in this hotel again if you paid me,and at whatever price you snag it at (I think we paid around AUD260/night - which was highway robbery if you ask me) you will be paying too much. Just don't even consider it, you'd be better of sleeping in your car!

Room was well-presented and air-conditioning worked well on a cold night. At $175 a night I thought it was slightly overpriced for the standard of the accommodation. Restaurant was good and despite being very busy, service was excellent. It was also pleasing to see that the restaurant opening days and hours were displayed on the web site, something some motels don't bother to do. However, the lack of breakfast (even just a continental tray) on weekends is not what a customer-focussed property of this size would do. It is not good for early starters like myself. It is a feature of some Parkes motels (some have stopped providing breakfast all together) and one has to ask the question of these properties - are they just works camps for North Parkes mine and rail and road employees or are they serious about providing for weekend non-business travellers ? I know the cost of providing breakfast has gone up but many travellers are prepared to pay for that.

Wow. I read so much about how they go above and beyond... well they don't. My windrowwhen I checked in didn't open. The guy even I asked at reception said "Yeah I know that one doesn't open. What would you do if you were at home? Just sort it out!" Apparently you can request a microwave. I did. But was told they only have 3. And i was out of luck. My booking was for 6 nights... no microwave for the whole time. 9.15 pm I came home from town, after dinner. The same manager was sitting in the bar with a lady. I requested a bottle of wine and was told that only if you take it back to your room... Never had worse service anywhere, and my job is on the road a lot... Don't stay here, find another place abs be happy.

Stayed here for 1 night, The motel is a bit out of town, however the room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The restaurant menu is very good. Staff are welcoming. I will definitely stay at the motel again

I stayed here for one night and found the owner was extremely thoughtful and helpful. Late in the afternoon we had a blackout for a short time and he came around personally to tell us it was being seen to by an electrician. He also gave good suggestions for clubs etc in town to visit. Room was great and shower lovely and hot!

Clean comfortable rooms, friendly staff. Nice dining are with a good menu with beers and wine available. Reasonable rates. Wished we could have stayed longer to explore Parkes but time did not permit. Would stay here again when we next visit.

We stayed only one night on the 23/02/2022. However, if not for work and other commitments, we would have loved to had stayed longer. The staff were typical country people, polite, relaxed and very accommodating. We had driven up from Sydney that morning to attend a relatives funeral in the afternoon. Unlike some other places, they allowed us to check in as soon as we arrived, allowing our family to have a bit of a break and get changed prior to the service. As we got back to the Motel a little later then expected, the restaurant was a half hour off closing and therefore, thought we were too late to get something for dinner. But once again, nothing was a problem and they prepared the three of us a lovely meal, which they served in our room. There pool is lovely, clean, indoors and have towels for you to use if required. We found the room spacious, very clean, comfortable and truly value for money. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay at the North Parkes again and would like to congratulate and thank the staff for their assistance and making our stay much more pleasant given the circumstances.
