The highlight of our stay was definitely the amenities. The pool was large, clean, not crowded, and we truly enjoyed spending time there. Breakfast was also satisfying — there were plenty of options, and while the food wasn’t outstanding, it was decent. The breakfast staff were efficient and attentive, which added to the overall positive experience.
However, we were disappointed during the check-in process. Upon informing the front desk that we had brought our 13-year old Shih Tzu with us, we were told that pets are not allowed. This came as a surprise, especially since several third-party booking sites and online advertisements state that the hotel is pet-friendly. The front desk staff immediately declined without offering any alternatives, even after hearing that we might have to go home. She explained that pets are only allowed for direct hotel bookings and require a week’s notice for room preparation, which we found unusual.
We tried to show her the app listing stating that pets were allowed, but she insisted on speaking with her manager. When she returned, she asked for our pet’s vaccination card. Unfortunately, we had forgotten to bring it (our oversight), but we did have a recent veterinary receipt showing the vaccine record. Still, she refused to accept it and said we would need to go home to retrieve the vaccine card. At that point, my dad and sister were already on their way back home, stuck in traffic.
Thankfully, another front desk staff member was more understanding. When I explained the situation, she reviewed the vet’s receipt and allowed us to check in without requiring the vaccine card. We appreciated her flexibility and hope the rest of the staff will receive training on how to handle guest concerns more empathetically and proactively. We came to relax, and it would have made a huge difference if we were treated with more understanding from the beginning. They should provide options, and be more flexible in terms of welcoming guests. My dad even paid for parking fee when we were forced to go back home. We booked three deluxe rooms btw. All fully paid in advance. They also asked for P2,500 pet fee.
The bath towels in our room smells bad too. Anyway, I hope that they will be more organised and that all staff must be trained, hospitality after all must be their top priority.
