The View Lugano

We made a reservation for the hotel's restaurant, which is rated one Michelin star, about two weeks or more in advance. The reservation was confirmed by the restaurant. When we arrived at the restaurant, especially from a distance, we were told that they were sorry, but the restaurant is closed starting in October on Mondays and Tuesdays. They made a false claim (a very serious matter in our opinion) that they sent us a message about this, which was not the case. They offered us to eat instead at their bistro, which we did out of fear. We have never encountered such behavior from a restaurant at all, and certainly not from a restaurant with one Michelin star. We will have to write to Michelin about the story so that they will reconsider its rating.

I had a wonderful experience at The View Lugano Spa with Monica. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing from the start. My massage was fantastic—she has a great technique that melts away tension while keeping you completely comfortable. The facial afterward was just as amazing, with high-quality products that left my skin glowing. Monica is skilled, attentive, and makes the whole experience feel personalized. Highly recommend if you’re visiting Lugano!

The View is aptly named. Probably the most stunning view I've ever had at a hotel. The room was very spacious and impecable, just as appears on the website. The hotel breakfast was wonderful, and I've had a lot of them. Be aware, this hotel is about a 35 minute walk from the center of Lugano, which some fail to mention. There's a city bus you can catch that cuts it down to 15 minutes. However, the hotel is situated up a very steep hill, which you have to climb to get to the bus stop. This was ok as we are young and fit, but would be a problem for small children or older adults. Even for us, the climb each day was exhausting and I chose to limit how many times I went back and forth to the hotel because of this. It was also June and close to 90 degrees, so that didn't help. We did not try out the bikes, as I'm not adept enough of a rider to deal with the steep hills so that is something to be aware of too if you're thinking you want to use the available ebikes. All in all, the price was exorbitant, and although the stay was excellent, I probably would not choose this property again due to the climb to get back and forth. Finally, the spa facilities and indoor pool were nice. I think having an outdoor pool would have been even better though.

I frankly hate this hotel. No one should ever stay here. One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. This hotel is a medium-quality AirBNB in all aspects by the name. This hotel would be overpriced at $300 and my room was $1500 per night. You enter in a dark parking garage - it is scary and I was confused we were at the wrong place. No one parks your car or takes your bags. The hotel hallways are dark and very stuffy and frankly scary. My college dorm was much nicer. The room furniture is gross and old and marked up with wear and tear. The "view" from the room is just bad - you have like a view of the roof below and there are big trees blocking the view of the lake. You'd have a much better view from any of the hotels in town. The room itself has so many issues. Worst is the bed, which is frumpy and uncomfortable and I slept terribly. Pillows are awful too, and the blanket feels lumpy and disgusting. The lights are automatic in the sink and bathroom, so when you get up at night these awful florescent lights come on and wake up your partner and keep you awake. There is a step up to the bathroom sink that I plowed into with my right foot during the night. Insane, dangerous design. The sink turns on with these like metal knobs that you turn which are disgusting, just awful. The room service is horrible. We ordered fish, shrimp, veggies on the first night and it was barely edible. The shrimp was disgusting - like an amateur boiled the fish and set them down on some salt. Horrific meal. Easily the worst room service meal I have ever eaten and it was very expensive. The biggest issues is the inconvenient location. Even if this was a good hotel, it's impossible to get to town. Every other hotel in Lugano is amazing because you can walk to cafes or the lake or the park. But at The View you are isolated in a cave up the mountain, truly awful. This is maybe the most disappointing hotel I have ever stayed at. I hated it. The "Small Luxury Hotels" of the world brand should remove this hotel as soon as possible as it is doing damage to their reputation.

Super modern, well equipped. Quiet and away from the city. Walkable but a steep Climb from the lake. Amazing views

We would like to say a special thank you to Marina, Gock(?) Davide and Christyna at the front desk. They were very, very helpful arranging or helping us with travel arrangements. The spa was very, very good and all of the facilities at the luxury hotel were extremely good. We were fortunate enough to get upgraded, and the view from our balcony across the lake was spectacular. The mountains, the scenery. Everything was very, very beautiful except for the rain.
