This was our first and only visit to Avanti Hotel based on 2 separate recommendations. At first glance the complex appears 'retro' at best having been built in the 90s and had little obvious re-modelling since. The rooms have been refurbished and stand out against the tired hallways. Fired doors are usually wedged open throughout floors. Our reservation was on a 10 days B&B basis but the breakfast was very poor, pastries weren't really pastry, but a brioche-type bread shaped as mini croissants etc. The fruit was dry and pretty much every breakfast option was noticeably cheap and basic. We soon learned that the multitude of local bars and restaurants were far better for dining. The pool area in the hotel has a large quantity of both loungers and space, with options to lounge under the cover of trees and parasols within the pool area. The pool in the hotel is a more relaxed area than the village which has more young children and less space, but a bigger pool. The indoor pool is not watched by a life guard and is worryingly accessible from the games area which itself is separate from the bar, pool or lobby area. The daytime entertainment program was exactly the same every day and finished no later than 3pm. The evening entertainment was very poor, to the point where the solo artist could not play the songs he had chosen he performed. More like a children's eisteddfod than sophisticated evening show. On the 1st April 2025 the hotel went completely cashless. All food and drinks are recorded against your room. They suggest it is for the customer's 'convenience' and security. But we had an incident where one of our party had items of clothing and money taken from the room. The hotel confirmed that only one staff member had accessed our room but declined to escalate the matter further. While they insisted that such an incident, 'has never happened' they also went on to quote the exact procedure we would need to pursue with the local police, including confirmation that the police wouldn't attend because no damage had occurred. A remarkable insight for a venue that has 'never' had any incidences of theft, but has now introduced a cashless system for 'your security'! There is a plaza area between the hotel and village that one imagines was once vibrant with eateries and entertainment but now only has three venues open, all owned by the same family. The Fiesta Bar has a great menu and staff. The only redeeming feature of the complex. Sad to say, but this hotel feels like it is holding on to solvency by the skin of its teeth by cutting cost at every turn. Pafos itself is beautiful and we failed to have a bad meal at any of the local establishments apart from our own breakfast. The hotel no longer provides half-board 'although if the breakfast is anything to go by this might be a blessing'. We will be returning to Pafos on a B&B or self-catering basis purely for the quality of the dining in local restaurants, but I would not limit myself to a HB/FB or A
