Fuimos a almorzar en un grupo de amigos y el servicio fue terrible y desorganizado. La comida muy mala, me pedí la hamburguesa de entraña y cordero ( completamente seca y sin sabor) la mermelada de cebolla quemada y amarga y el pan de masa madre (que en realidad era pan de hamburguesa Bimbo). Varios comentarios sobre el mal sabor de la comida, la demora al servir y a uno de mis amigos nunca le trajeron el plato y cuando les comentamos nos hicieron esperar 30 minutos más para una pasta mal hecha con exceso de tinta de calamar y dos camarones. Una estafa total el restaurante y una lástima ya que el lugar es bonito.

Amazing, unique lodging with lots of art and things to keep the family occupied during downtime (table tennis, foosball, darts, etc). It's right next to the hot springs and there are a number of restaurants nearby if you want to try something different than their kitchen (which was tasty). Breakfast was included and they have a bar for drinks at night. The staff were also super friendly and helpful.

Spectacular! Unique! A must visit! Don’t miss out! There is nothing like this Lodge! There are so many great things I can praise Mamallacta for. Yet, above all is the great customer service. The staff are fellow travelers whom backpacked around the globe. They are so helpful and kind. They make you feel so welcomed you may think you are visiting life long friends. They will provide you with great service and priceless tips about the local area or anywhere in the world you plan to visit next. Be ready for an Unparalleled experience. ¡Espectacular! ¡Único! ¡Totalmente debes hacerlo! ¡No te lo pierdas! ¡No hay nada igual este Lodge! Hay tantas cosas maravillosas por las que puedo elogiar a Mamallacta. Sin embargo, por encima de todo está el excelente servicio al cliente. El personal son mochileros que viajaron por todo el mundo. Son muy serviciales y amables. Te hacen sentir tan bienvenido que puedes pensar que estás visitando a amigos de toda la vida. Te brindarán un excelente servicio y consejos invaluables sobre el área local o cualquier parte del mundo que planees visitar a continuación. Prepárate para una experiencia incomparable.

This was my second stay, and based on my limited experience, the place keeps getting better. The same magnificent views, the same warm hospitality, the same fun, artistic touches, but also a bunch of small improvements. The wifi seemed more reliable than I remember from my Jan 2023 stay, the timed lights in the hallway didn’t turn off while I was still fumbling with my door, the smoky wood stove had been replaced with a different style of heater, and I believe common spaces are being improved/expanded (roof terrace, back patio). My room could not have been more comfortable, and the views - just wow. The staff and owner go above and beyond, from picking me up at the airport (thank you, Jonathan), to letting me check in early after my red-eye flight (thank you, Juan), to making sure my breakfast was different each day (though I could have eaten the molido de verde over and over without complaint), to providing tons of information about the country and region (thank you, Cesar). So glad I stayed multiple nights to take full advantage of the location! Already fantasizing about my next trip…

El hotel es muy lindo una decoración muy acogedora, sin embargo nuestra estadía no fue lo que esperábamos por los siguientes puntos; ofrecen parqueadero y cuando llegas es un terreno sin seguridad sin puertas sin guardia ni cuidador y obviamente si pasa algo con tu auto nadie se responsabiliza, nos tocó parquear el auto en termas de papallacta por un valor adicional y cuando le comenté a la dueña para recibir un descuento por lo que gastamos en parqueadero de otro lado y su respuesta fue negativa . La persona que cocina tose todo el tiempo no se tapa la boca para toser y no usa mascarilla para cocinar lo cual hace muy desagradable comer ahí , el desayuno es malo no te dan ninguna opción a escojer, nos pasaron un pan con pasas y obviamente no es algo de gusto para todos . La verdad cobran como un hotel de lujo pero les falta mucho, la carta de comida es muy costosa. A la final se gasta lo mismo que hospedarse en termas de papallacta ya que en este hotel no hay piscinas y en lo que se paga para entrar piscinas y parqueadero de temas más el valor de este hotel no resulta .

I went for one night to Papallacta with a colleague after attending a conference in Quito. We booked this hotel spontaneously without checking too much, and wow! what a great surprise. Warning - this is NOT a standard hotel. It's more like a "fancy backpackers hostel". That being said, it's very clean and upclass, but don't expect the concierge, valet parking and mini bar. Instead, expect to have fun and enjoy! Jonathan and Nanve (I hope I got his name right) run this place along with Jonathan's wife (I didn't catch her name). They built it with their own hands and every corner of this amazing lodge is a tribute to their hard work. It is covered with colorful artwork and interesting building concepts and architecture. I was lying in bed, looking at the "strange fire sprinklers" on the ceiling, wondering how they worked, when I realized they weren't fire sprinklers, but rather door handles... the whole ceiling of our room was made out of recycled doors!!!! It may sound strange, but it's ultra cool! There are fun and games all around, from a Fussball table, to old couches, to board games and a little library with kids books, such as Pipi Longstockings and the Hungry Caterpillar. They run a little bar/restaurant with homemade local food and six homemade craft beers on tap. There are bikes and umbrellas and rain ponchos that you can borrow. There's good music playing. It's just great. I was totally thrown back to my backpacking days - remembering the best hostels I stayed at in New Zealand. But I'm more than 15 years older now, and generally don't "rough it" as much any more, but here, I was in a clean, comfortable hotel, just with the hostel atmosphere. How great! Thank you Jonathan and family for the great stay. I'm so glad we accidentally stumbled upon your accommodation!

Very unique. The owner and operator of Mamallacta, Jonathan, is very nice, helpful and accommodating, as is all his staff. This facility is very creative and unique. The setting is terrific in the mountains. The baths are only a 5-10 minute walk from this facility. The thermal baths of Papallacta are FABULOUS and worth the effort. This area is expensive compared to the rest of Ecuador. WIFI is terrible but the owner is working hard to change it. A visit to Ecuador could not be complete without a couple of days in the thermal baths.

My boyfriend and I were on a 3 month South America trip, staying mostly in hostels, and we splurged a bit on this lodge stay for Valentines day. The location this lodge is in is the big selling point. Lush hills and mountains, hiking trails, farm animals, and of course the hot springs only steps away. Even with the fog covering most of the view, it was one of the most beautiful places we stayed in Ecuador. The lodge itself is decorated and built so beautifully and artistically. There are so many little details in the building to admire. The food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious and the breakfast was included. My only complaint would be that it was hard to find staff, the front desk was empty most of the time and check in was kind of confusing, but once we did find someone they were always helpful.

The people were so helpful and friendly. The owner, Jonathon, not only made our check in easy ( we were in an ugly accident and we were 5 hours late) but also made a reservation at Termas for us the next day. The food is the best in the area. The resort is basically an art exibit for Jonathon (who is an artist). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
