Movie Colony Hotel - Adults Only

Staying at the Movie Colony for my birthday with my partner was a great experience. I let them know ahead of time that it was my birthday and they catered with a few surprises as I checked in and when I got to my room I had a complimentary bottle of champaign with a birthday note. The property was small and nice. Cucumber water, wine and cheese, and breakfast included with the one day room. Walking distance from downtown but we decided to still call an uber. Ate at trio, visited the tiki bar walking distance up the road.

This place is so charming and boutique. The service was excellent. The ambience is fantastic. The pool is magnificent. My wife and I could not say enough great things about this place. It’s close to downtown, so we were able to walk everything we wanted to do and see. It’s so charming and it feels like traveling back in time to the early 1960s.

Posizione molto comoda, a pochi minuti a piedi dalla via principale con negozi e ristoranti. Struttura piccola, tutte le camere sono affacciate su due piccoli cortili, uno con la piscina e uno con un bar. Noi abbiamo alloggiato in una Suite King su due piani. Al piano terra salottino con divano letto (con scarsissima illuminazione), al piano superiore bagno, camera matrimoniale e un bel terrazzo. Arredamento semplice ma nel complesso carino, la struttura avrebbe però bisogno di essere rinfrescata (porte, pareti e impianto di condizionamento andrebbero sistemati). Colazione inclusa ma onestamente abbastanza deludente, scelta davvero molto ristretta, poco spazio a disposizione in cui consumarla. Piscina davvero piccolina e non molto curata. Servizio non particolarmente attento, eravamo tre ospiti ma all’arrivo abbiamo trovato asciugamani solo per due persone e il divano letto senza lenzuola. Siamo dovuti andare a chiedere, ci hanno dato tutto da portare in camera e il letto ce lo siamo dovuti fare noi.

Review this before booking! My finance and I ended up booking this hotel because of the reviews on TripAdvisor. Big mistake. First off the lobby was closed so we had to check in at the hotel next door where the workers were complaining that they had to deal with this hotel. So We check in and go to our room. Room was NOT vacuumed. Everything in the room is stained or blemished to some degree. They literally had a sliding mirror (almost falling off the wall) to hide the window in the bathroom, which was rusted and had made gouges into the wall. The front door has a large gap to the outside where we literally watched a bug crawl in through. Not to mention the sliding bathroom door that literally leaves a couple inch gap open into the bathroom. If this hotel was $50-$65 I wouldn’t have been surprised and probably wouldn’t have cared, but for $200 it was an absolute rip off at every level. Absolutely waste of money and I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody

Stayed here in a suite and here are the goods and not so goods: The Good: *prime location in Movie Colony. My favorite area in PS. Also close to Uptown PS which is also a great area to be near. *if you like walking through textured and historic neighborhoods, it’s located right there. *small property so never a ton of guests. *free parking The Not So Good: *the rooms are very old and not fresh *the road noise from Indian Canyon is very loud. Sounded like a car was in my room *security to both the property and rooms and deck doors are a joke. Not secure at all. *the toilets and plumbing are out dated. With warning signs to not flush much. *the towels are old and small *the AC window unit(s) don’t really cool the room and are VERY loud when on *most of all, you’ll see NO staff at all. We had to check in at Triada property next door and their front desk staff were a bit thrown off as were we. Literally nobody to talk to and even the subsequent days had no staff. Super odd. *I would not pay more than $120 for these rooms and that’s generous. *it’s a niche hotel not a boutique property. *tvs are outdated and have no speakers and where’s my Netflix. I won’t stay at a hotel if they can’t offer a Netflix log on opportunity

This place has the cool 50s vibe I was looking for in Palm Springs, with a lot of quiet and privacy. My room felt like a bungalow from the past in the nearby Movie Colony. The only thing noisy was the air conditioning unit that could barely keep the room cool enough and ran most of the time during the hot parts of the day. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was beautiful, water was hot with good water pressure, and there was plenty of storage in drawers and closet. The toilet came with a warning about delicate plumbing, but worked fine for me. There was no desk in the room and no seating other than a chaise lounge, but chairs and tables are available to use in the courtyard outside. The place was very clean but one night I found a bug in the bathroom because there are small openings around the window frame where bugs can come in from the lovely plants outside. The breakfast was better than expected including pastries, cereal, yogurt, fruit, and fresh-squeezed orange juice, available until late morning, and it could be eaten in the lobby, the courtyard, or taken to one's room on a tray. The staff was kind and helpful, but I was surprised that the hotel lobby closes in the evening and overnight, and then guests need to go to the hotel next door for assistance. I didn't try the pool, but saw others out there enjoying it. Overall I had a very good experience, fun and different from the usual 21st century hotels.

The Movie Colony Hotel is a small, charming hotel located right in the heart of downtown of Palm Springs. We could walk to restaurants, the Art Museum, and some eclectic and fun stores, including boutique thrift stores. Aleena checked us in and made us feel completely at home! She told us about a wine and cheese offering in the afternoon, which turned out to be fun. The next day we were able to walk a few blocks in the neighborhood to find Frank Sinatra's house! Highly recommend Movie Colony Hotel!

We were in a town house style suite. It was lovely. Downstairs was the sitting area with couch, chairs, fridge, TV. Upstairs was the wonderful shower! Very large! The beds were very comfortable. Nate at the desk was friendly and helpful. (We didn't meet anyone else) Pool and hot tub too! It was the perfect Palm Springs setting!

loved this place!!! rooms are awesome, very cool vibes. Staff was very helpful, and walking distance to shops, restaurants, and more. 5 min drive to Agua Caliente ******, Palm Springs art museum and tons of other stuff. Will definitely stay here again!
