If you want a break from the hustle, bustle and noise of the cities, and a chance to relax and unwind, then this is the place for you. The hotel is 16 “tents” built on top of the dam of a reservoir. At one time before RAAS took it over, they were actually tents, although rather grand ones. Now they are normal fixed structures with fabric interiors to achieve a tent look, which does work. Every room/tent overlooks the reservoir with a magnificent and peaceful view from your veranda. The rooms are reasonably large with the facilities you would expect. The central dining/ bar area is also on top of the dam with same great view. Dining is the usual mix of Indian and international (ie Italian) and is very good quality. Note that there are more than 50 steps from the drop-off level up to the dam top level where everything happens. If this is a problem because of mobility issues, do ask the staff for assistance. There is not a guest elevator, but there is a service elevator which they will willingly show you to if you need it. The hotel offers an open top jeep trip visiting the surrounding rural area, which in our case included a school and a family fam. It also offers boat trips on the reservoir. We did both of these, both led by Gauss, the hotel naturalist, who has extensive knowledge of birds, nature and the local area. When we were there in late Feb the main bird migratory season had largely passed so there was not an extensive variety of birds on the reservoir. However, this was more than made up for by our unexpected sighting of a leopard, apparently contemplating a feral cow as its next meal. Both trips were well worth while, although ( without the leopard) the boat trip would be better in Nov - Jan for bird life. It’s difficult to convey just how relaxing this place is. We really loved it - probably our favourite property of our whole trip. Yes, it’s not luxurious, but it’s certainly not basic either. It’s really comfortable, well appointed with everything you could need. We absolutely loved this place and would highly recommend it.

RAAS Chatrasagar stay experience was unique, luxurious and exquisite at the very least. I and my husband went for our anniversary trip here and everything we experienced at the property was perfect. The rooms were super spacious and clean with a lake facing terrace. The pool was heated and it was amazing to be able to take a dip in the winter months. The food is nothing short of class apart! They cook from their organic gardens and the freshness in the taste of rhe veggies coming fresh out of their gardens is unmissable. They have amazing staff who go out of their way to make your stay memorable and comfortable. And the activities we took during our stay were engaging and peaceful. Just the perfect couple getaway in the middle of nature. Waiting to visit again. Highly recommend!

seven stars! Stunning nature, clean air, exquisite food with wonderful vegetables from the organic garden. Terrific nature walks for peaceful escape and discovering so many types of bird with the expert naturalist. you will be nourished in every way. I cannot say enough about this very special property and the exceptional people who work here at every level… From front of house to behind the scenes, every need is met with a smile. Impeccable housekeeping, and warm professional dining service that goes above and beyond. We spent 5 days here… and could have stayed longer to continue relaxing and enjoying.

This is a 6star property! We broke up a long drive from Jaipur to Jodphur and were so glad for it. The views from the dam was a picture of clam and relaxation. It was perfect after the bustling Jaipur to kick back in the sun and recuperate. They only have 17 rooms or so, each furnished thoughtfully. There is even a bath tub with bath salts provided. All the modern comforts are there as you view nature from your back balcony. Take the tour of the village to understand the local situation. The sundowner was a clear winner. I’d recommend you take a boat tour then watch sunset on the hill. They have an open bar with amazing farm side views. Never a prettier sunset!

Intimate luxury off the beaten track This place is really special, and 1 night is definitely not long enough. We arrived late in the afternoon to a warm welcome and a refreshing drink on the deck - the views are breathtaking. The lodges are so pretty, embroidered with the birds found on the reservoir with sequins and a skylight to the stars. Even the bath boasts the same mesmerising views. We went for a walk for sundowners with a guide, learning about the wildlife & conservation, and were rewarded with a stunning sunset. The food at RAAS was the best we had in India, as was the service. Attentive yet laidback, the team are all really kind and add to the ambience. I set my alarm for sunrise and was not disappointed, enjoying a coffee as the sky turned pink. A beautiful oasis after the excitement of the cities. This hotel is wonderfully peaceful and the facilities and staff were excellent. We enjoyed the village visit, so interesting and were able to see up close the cotton and castor oil fields. Birdlife in abundance and a safari trip with a naturist and guide shouldn’t be missed!
