We spent 5 nights at the Black Bear Manor the first week in October. This was our first trip to the Ouray area, and we enjoyed it very much. The host was great and we enjoyed visiting with the other people staying there. I enjoyed the close location to downtown and our day trips to the surrounding area - Durango, Telluride, Ridgway. We also rented a jeep and had fun crossing the mountains! If we ever go back to Ouray, this will be our place to stay!

To start, the property manager and staff of this B&B were super helpful! We were welcomed in from the start like family. Our room was ready early and was super clean. We slept like a baby in the king size bed. It was soft and so comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and made with love. We enjoyed the conversation with other guests as we ate. This was our first time in a B&B and won’t be the last. Everything was perfect from start to finish- highly recommend this place for us accommodating atmosphere and staff. We loved it 🥰

Really quaint B&B. Great location near downtown Ouray. We were able to walk to town for meals, shopping and entertainment. Ouray is an amazing town to visit. The B&B was a little pricey but the beds were comfortable. Breakfast each morning was delicious.

The setting is beautiful and service was good. Hot tub was nice after hiking and adjusting to the altitude. It’s an easy walk from the property to breweries, restaurants, and hiking. There is nothing fancy about these accommodations. We did not get a good night sleep. The mattress was much too soft and I felt every move my spouse made. Around midnight the air conditioning unit began making a high pitched whistle off and on (mostly on) for the rest of the night. Breakfast was okay, not great. Had the mattress been better and the AC functioned correctly, we would consider staying here again, but consider you are getting a modest place with no frills.

What an amazing stay in such a charming B&B! The rooms were spotless, and the manager really cared about our experience. He had great recommendations for restaurants and was always working so hard! He even remembered my name the next day, which added a personal touch to the experience. The breakfasts were delicious, especially the stuffed French toast. If you're looking for a cozy retreat with great access to the heart of Ouray, I highly recommend Black Bear Manor!

What a perfect place!!!! You are made to feel welcome for the minute you contact Black Bear Manor! John Iwanicki is just amazing in his hospitality and his breakfasts are out of this world!! The place is perfectly situated in Ouray with easy access to everything. The rooms are very nice and comfortable, SUPER clean!!

Upon our arrival, the manager, John, sat in the dining room and told us to sign up for breakfast which we did. The next morning we promptly arrived for breakfast. He indicated we did not sign up. He then argued with us about it. He reluctantly went in the kitchen to cook our breakfast and within 15 seconds came out and said he was out of food !!!!! We were in room #8 which was VERY dated and dark. We thought the pillows were bricks, it was is impossible to hear the television as it was hanging on the wall with the speakers facing the back, and we wished we had stayed at the Twin Peaks Lodge instead of Black Bear Manor. Those folks were warm and helpful when we rented a golf cart from them. John on the other hand couldn’t be bothered to help me (I am 78 years old) with my suitcase up to the second floor. I would never recommend Black Bear Manor to anyone wanting to visit Ouray.

First of all the manager on site was very unprofessional. He seemed bothered by any requests. I overheard him yelling and in a dispute with another employee. The rooms were nothing special. TV and air conditioning were not working. Next time I will be looking for another option.

Beautiful and Amazing place to stay while visiting Ouray and surrounding areas. John and staff are awesome! Room was fantastic, most comfortable bed especially after a long day of exploring the areas. Breakfast was home-cooked and delicious. Convenient location with short walk to shopping, restaurants and more. Will definitely stay again.
