Island House Hotel Orange Beach - a DoubleTree by Hilton

First off, know that every room is Gulf Front with a balcony. So, there are no rooms without a view. However, I recommend the higher level rooms for more of a view. Rooms numbered _11 or _10 are right across from the elevators. There were no USB ports in the room. There was 1 charge pad. The mattress/ pillows were slightly above average. The balcony furniture was not comfortable, I ended up putting pillows in my chair because I enjoy drinking my coffee on the balcony. Otherwise, the room was very clean and comfortable with electric drawn shades. Their pics indicate some sort of a breakfast bar..There is not one. They do have a restaurant/bar menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner or adult bevs. Everything we ordered was good. Pricing for food and alcohol is average for the area, so don't feel like it's just expensive because it's at the hotel. There is a Starbucks! The beach chair rental is $45 for 2 chairs for the day until 5 pm. You can also reserve chairs for the next day by scanning their QR code. Or bring your own. I would stay here again. Location is right across from a Shrimp Basket, Ice Cream Shop and Donut Shop. You are taking your life in your hands crossing the busy 4-lane to walk over, but we lived. 😀 8/10

We had a great experience. Easy check in, polite employees. Rooms were clean, and comfy. There was a restaurant/bar/Starbucks in the hotel, which is convenient for those not wanting to leave the hotel. They also sold single items like sandwiches and desserts and ice cream from the coolers. The pool was nice, and towels are provided if you forget your own. We would stay here again.

the bed was just what I needed to rest my weary head. Only one complaint that was breakfast fee was a bit much for what others offer for free. But I gladly paid it since I did not have to travel off site for breakfast.

The hotel was very clean. There is a restaurant with a limited menu in the event that you don't want to wander off. The pool is kept clean and maintained every morning. The yellow and purple beach flags were up all week. I never saw anyone in the water. My only issue was that I wasn't aware the room cleaning didn't take place on the third day of my visit. You have to request this! I needed clean bath towels and coffee pods. I think I should have been informed of this upon check in. However, it was an enjoyable visit.

Another great trip for the 5th year in a row. Fantastic location and facility. Orlando is super friendly and helpful, manages the pool and maintenance. We had a problem with our in room safe and Ernesto had it resolved before my girlfriend made it back upstairs from reporting the problem.

We are low key travelers. My family prefers a truly relaxed vacation. For us, Island House was perfect! The hotel itself is nice. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and a nice interior. Each room has a balcony. It is on the beach with a decent sized pool. There are rental chairs and umbrellas on the beach for rent: $45 a day for two chairs and an umbrella. The hotel has a full Starbucks downstairs. There is also a casual restaurant which offers breakfast from 6 am to 11:00 and offers lunch and dinner from 11 am to 10 pm. They also have room service. Room service isn't fancy with silver domes and carts, but they do bring the food to your room. You can spend your whole day at the property. We woke up, grabbed breakfast, and spent every morning at the beach. Had a lunch break back at the hotel, and then determined our afternoon and evening plans. 5 minutes away, there is a Publix, a McDonalds (IYKYK: our son is 7), and several basic shops to help you navigate travel with kids. A few more minutes down the road, there is The Wharf. We went to the AMC theater there to catch a movie one afternoon. There is also a Ferris wheel, several restaurants, a brewery, candy shops, and clothing stores. It was our first time to this beach and hotel, but it will likely become our go-to beach. We went to Hilton Head the last two years and Orange Beach was a better experience for us. It was less crowded, family friendly, calm, and just fun. 10/10 would recommend. While we came as a family, I can see this being a place for couples who just want to relax or even a girls’ trip for ladies who just want to read and drink sangria by the pool. Love this spot!
