Firstly, I was given a room in an extension block that seemed to have been built recently. It was modern but lacked the charm and character of a true heritage property. The main building, with its fireplace and historic ambience, was nowhere to be found. This was especially disappointing considering the premium price I paid, comparable to what you'd expect from a 5-star hotel.
The lack of attention to detail continued throughout my stay. When I checked in on a rainy day, I had to walk to the extension block without an umbrella despite the muddy road. The staff seemed unbothered by this inconvenience. Additionally, the room didn't have slippers, and the floor was cold, with no heating available (although they did provide a basic room heater when requested).
To make matters worse, I had to call the front desk to confirm my room for the second day, which should have been done automatically as part of their standard procedure. This lack of efficiency only added to my frustration.
The toiletries were also woefully inadequate, with only basic soap and shampoo provided. Power cuts were frequent, and I had to notify the front desk each time, which seemed like a hassle the hotel should have anticipated.
The breakfast buffet was uninspiring and lacked flavour. To make matters worse, I had dinner at their restaurant, which was rated top in Ooty, but my experience was average at best. To add insult to injury, they got our order wrong, substituting Nasi Goreng (fried rice) with Mee Goreng (fried noodles). When I brought this to their attention, they made no effort to compensate for the mistake.
In conclusion, Hotel King's Cliff fails to live up to its reputation as a heritage property or even a 2-star hotel. The overpricing and lack of attention to detail make it a poor choice for travellers seeking a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Ooty.

Had a very memorable stay at KC. The staffs were supportive with top notch hospitality, especially in the matters of our kid. The theme of English is fantabulous. But, the highlight of our stay was dinner & breakfast at Earls Secret. Just amazing food.

King’s Cliff is a beautiful medieval -style hotel tucked away in the serene hills of Ooty. The location is peaceful with stunning valley views—perfect for a quiet escape. Our room was cozy, clean, and had a lovely vintage charm. The fireplace was a nice touch on chilly nights. The staff were courteous and attentive, and the food at the on-site restaurant was delicious, especially the South Indian breakfast. It’s a bit away from the town center, so it’s ideal for those looking to relax and unwind in nature.

Manoj is quite good with recommendation for food and other near by places. Stay and rooms are too good. Must try food here. The glass restaurant and ambience is must try. Also try the heritage rooms, they view and the ambience outside is too good.

I found this whole place is a highly rated restaurant in Ooty, which is actually true. It is very noisy, too many outsiders visiting the restaurant and makes it very uncomfortable for people wants to enjoy the place. We were advised to order the food from the room, instead of enjoying the outside weather and the restaurant. I did not find the place is a comfortable and quality place to stay with family.

Standard rooms were not good; very old rooms, though it is a heritage property. Rooms should be at least livable, but the staff were courteous enough to understand and gave us an upgrade to their newly built rooms. It was a great experience. The food was top-notch. Overall, the staff were very polite, and the food was good. A very good experience.

We had a wonderful experience at King's Cliff on our very first visit. With polite staff members, a breathtaking view, supreme quality food, and much more, it was truly wholesome. A special mention to staff member Sabari for assisting us throughout our stay. And a special thanks to Naturalist Jain Varghese and team for the unforgettable nature walk + mini trek. We enjoyed it thoroughly!!
