First time holidaying in Portugal and tbh it’s hands down the nicest country we’ve been to in a long time. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome the staff at the hotel from front desk down to the cleaners are the most friendly we’ve come across in a long time. The hotel is clean and the facilities are kept to a high standard. The hotel has two big swimming pools and a toddle pool all are a nice temperature to swim in. There is no struggle to get a sun lounger either the hotel does have a snack/lunch bar whilst the options are limited the food is tasty and served hot. Not far from the hotel about a 5 minute walk is the beach it is small so if you want to have a day at the beach you will have to get up early the beach is clean and there are plenty of restaurants around all serving good food and beer. We ventured out around Portugal on several occasions using Uber which like back home is quick and there are plenty about there is also a taxi rank outside the hotel but we found Uber to suite our need’s better. All in all a great family holiday we are already thinking of coming back next year as we all very much enjoyed it.

We travelled as a family of 4 (2 adults and a 11 and 7 year old) On first impressions the hotel was nice and clean and the location was great. On our first day we realised the pools were both deep so not ideal for children, there was no graduation into the pool, which i think is important particularly with kids that arent confident swimmers. There was never an issue getting a sunbed, which is great especially in August! The rooms were great, however the balconies are quite enclosed and small, too small for a family of 4. The ones that faced the pool were alot better. We said we would have liked some music around the pool, nothing too loud just some background sound to add to the atmosphere. Drinks and bar food were all reasonably priced. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, particularly Jose, he is a real credit to the hotel. All the restaurants in the the town are great, would highly recommend Fratellis/Acqua and By the sea (for poke/acai bowls).We had a day out at zoomarine which was great, the kids loved it. The dolphin show was impressive. We use bolt taxis to get around, generally paid between 8-12 euros to places - Albufeira old town, vilamoura etc. Its a really handy app to use to get around.

We are leaving tomorrow after a 2 week stay and have loved it so much that we have already booked again for next year. We had a superior pool view room (room 212) which has been great, although have booked the pool view room with the smaller balcony for next year as this one is almost £1000 more. The apartment is well equipped and is immaculate throughout. Our 15 year old has been sleeping on the sofa bed in the lounge and has been perfectly comfortable there. The pool area is lovely and we really like the quiet atmosphere and availability of sun beds. The 2 pools are good sizes and the perfect temperature for a dip. There are times when children are bouncing between them on inflatables, but generally they are quiet enough for a dip and it’s lovely to see the younger guests enjoying their holidays too. The hotel is so well placed in Olhos D’Agua, with supermarkets, bars and restaurants just a few minutes walk away. We particularly enjoyed Taverna restaurant and Restaurant Olhos D’Agua for meals and the bar on the corner of the seafront for a drink. The pool bar in the hotel is well priced and the food is of a high quality, although we generally used that for ice creams and drinks. The staff throughout the hotel are friendly and all want the best for your holiday. We spent most of our days lazing by the pool, enjoying one day out at AquaShow waterpark which was easily accessible by Uber. One area of improvement that would have enhanced our stay would be the gym. It is very small which would have been fine if the room had been air conditioned. As it was, I used it once but it was far too hot and I wouldn’t bother again. All in all, this is such a fantastic hotel and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others. We are already looking forward to returning in July next year and will no doubt return repeatedly in the future.

All I can say is OH MY GOD. What a fantastic place to stay. From the moment we arrived till when we left everything about Aquamar was absolutely amazing. Met José when we arrived. An absolute gentleman to deal with. Always asking about us during our 2 weeks. The cleanliness of this place,the fantastic staff at the bar, reception etc were top notch. Brilliant location. Bars, restaurants etc across the road. Village just a few mins down the road. I really could go on and on but as I told José we can't come back next year but will we back the year after. Actually forgot to mention the apartment. They are massive. Living room with TV and small balcony. Fully equipped kitchen. Double bathroom and bedroom with a TV with another bigger balcony. Think we found our place in paradise. Thanks very much to everyone here.

Hotel cleanliness fine no issues. Riccado on the bar and the young man on reception amazing, management friendly enough, however the lady on the bar in the mornings is abrupt and rude and it put us off going infact we would all debate several times whos turn it was cus noone wanted to deal with her. Be mindful of the baths which are quite slippy. Unless ur gonna stay with your towels dont put them down as they will end up in reception - there was another group who were told they couldnt bring food by the pool, the next day they went back to their room for lunch- gone less than half hour and their towels were taken- which doesnt really make any sense considering they were rules made by the hotel. I understand completely if you put ur towels down and disappear for hours but this wasn't the case. Quite frankly you feel like a pest asking for a drink. Won't let you change your bath towels until day 4 so dont even ask or bring ur own. They wont open the pool doors until 9am so if ur an early risier this is not the place for u. Despite having no lifeguard anyway so I cant really understand this, u cant sunbathe until 9am either.... and this is if your lucky- some mornings its been almost half past. Drains smelt foul dont get me wrong was sorted quickly, however no prior warning on the apartments next to the drains so we were quite surprised to be getting ready to be met with the smell of strongggg sewage. The grass is cut in the mornings around 8am, and this is when the pool is treated also, except u cant get out- so now ur awake and stuck in ur room or infront of glass doors with other guests looking on abit like gold fish ina bowl. As they heavily treat the water in the morning, the chlorine is stronggg your eyes literally burn. Cannot understand why this isnt done on an evening along with grounds maintainance to be quite frank it would make mornings much more efficient if they just then had to clean the pool. Honestly wouldn't return to this hotel EVER.. and we aint even half way through yet.
