Bahnhof Oberkirch

Rooms were very nice, as was the breakfast. However the stay was spoiled by bad service from unprofessional and poorly trained staff. Also if you opened your window early in the morning, all you could hear were staff chatting on the balcony overlooking the train line.

Wir waren hier mit Freunden zum Abendessen. Das Essen ist gut, der Service aufmerksam und freundlich. Preis/ Leistung absolut in Ordnung. Die Innengestaltung des ehemaligen Bahnhofs ist sehr gut gelungen. Alte Elemente wurden erhalten und mit modernen Möbeln ergänzt. Absolute Empfehlung.

Parking and check in went smoothly even with our limited German and the staff’s limited English. We were even offered a bus pass each to explore the area. Which is what we enjoy doing when visiting a new destination. The town itself is quiet and calm with water running through but the first reaction is that it is so dead even on a Saturday afternoon when we arrived. During the stroll bicycles keeps having near misses with us ; yes , we were not clinging to the walls but there were plenty of room to pass. Until one elderly local decided to get off his bike and have a go at me, a non white, which my husband is not. I explained that there was a car getting out of the parking spot so we had to moved out of the way, he became even more aggressive with his hand gestures directed at only me while screaming what I could only understand to be insults . To cut the story short , our first day of this summer family road trip would be ruined if not for the sanctuary of the Bahnhof Obetkirch.

Durch Zufall sind wir auf den "Bahnhof Oberkirch • Hotel und Genuss" aufmerksam geworden und dort als Gäste des Restaurants eingekehrt. Was soll ich sagen? Das Team ist sehr, sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, die Speisen war in unserem Fall über jeden Zweifel erhaben - es war sehr lecker, frisch und von hervorragender Qualität - und das Tüpfelchen auf dem "i" ist das Interieur des ehemaligen Bahnhofs! Es wurde nicht einfach ein altes Bahnhofsgebäude renoviert, es wurde auf schönste Art wieder zum Leben erweckt. Alte Bahnhofselemente blieben erhalten, wurden herausgehoben, Eisenbahn-Zitate gekonnt eingebracht und mit Modernem gekonnt kombiniert, dass es eine wahre Wonne ist. Wir konnten uns kaum sattsehen. Wir empfehlen jeden Besucher Oberkirchs dringend, den Bahnhof zu besuchen, sei es als Gast oder Schaulustiger.
