Hotel Aitana

We did not book this hotel directly, our tour operator did, but we were happy with the hotel and the room. PROS: the rooms are clean, big bathroom, terrace at the top with views to downtown. The breakfast menu has plenty of options to taste local food, so its excellent to experiment first hand real mexican food. Eventhough it is located on a busy street, we had a good night sleep every day. The room has the basic stuff as expected for a budget hotel. Definitely a good choice, and seems like other tour operators work with them. DISCLAIMER: this hotel is not located on Oaxaca downtown, it is like a 5-6 block walk from downtown, locals told us not to walk back to the hotel at night but rather take a cab (or go back earlier) , so this will be the only watchout.

What I liked most about Hotel Aitana was the welcoming atmosphere. The staff were all very helpful and kind. I felt safe and comfortable during my staff. Breakfast was available for $5 USD and consisted of fruit, toast, and eggs with meat, and coffee. The terrace up top was an enjoyable place to plan activities or unwind.
