Goatfell

WOW! I can't begin to describe how much we loved our time here! I was travelling just with my twins (aged 10) and we had the best time - the food is literally sensational and the rooms are divine. Comfy beds, incredible food, the best service of any hotel I have ever been to and the most unbelievable peace - the silence was unreal. We had lit fires in the evening, laundry done, and hot water bottles in our beds - this is truly the best hotel I have ever been to and we met the loveliest people. I would give this hotel ten stars!

Fantastic place to stay. Arranged through Trailfinders UK, who deal with all our bookings for our trip to Sri Lanka. The staff were amazing, the hotel was fantastic and the views breathtaking. This was booked as a full "all inclusive" deal, and was well worth every penny. We were given a "tracker" phone for one of the several local walks that were available to us. They even did some free laundry for us, with it all back later the same day. Couldn't fault the place at all.

We absolutely loved our stay at Goatfell, which is an amazing place. The service, hospitality and food was first class! An added bonus was making new friends. We would highly recommend this friendly hotel and area, go for a walk and meet the local people.

Quite frankly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, unfortunately we were only there for two nights. It rained whilst we were there, there is absolutely nothing that can be done about this but the sitting room fire was lit, when we went to bed there hot water bottles in the bed and if we needed it a heater plus blankets (we didn't). It didn't rain all the time and after the madness of Kandy and humidity this was a welcome break. The staff are amazing, you could not fault them in any way including the fab tuk tuk driver who took us in the pouring rain to a tea plantation, if you stay here you'll understand. The food, just wonderful. We were even given a take away breakfast after leaving early to get the train. It was much to the envy of other passengers! The views are amazing from the infinity pool, yes we did get in it whilst it was raining. But towels, dressing gowns and slippers are provided so very easy to get warm after a dip. You can have a walk around the estate with their app, they will lend you a phone if saving on the data roaming! I would happily stay here even in the rain for longer, it is such a wonderful place and the staff are just brilliant and I thank them all for making our stay a delightful experience. We stayed in six different hotels whilst in Sri Lanka including another one in the teardrop group which was also very good but this one was just wonderful.

Without doubt the finest of all the hotels we stayed in in Sri Lanka on our recent trip. Whilst it is located outside Nuwara Eliya and down a long track it is so worth it to stay here. What a place! Four fabulous rooms and personal attention and service throughout. The staff here go to amazing lengths to do everything they can to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. Rooms are well equipped and we even had hot water bottles in our beds as the nights were cool. Food is superb and plentiful with excellent choices. Pre dinner drinks are taken in front of a roaring fire. There is a small infinity pool overlooking the valley below. Asker and his team go to great lengths to accommodate you and Asker really helped us out when our departure was delayed on our leaving day. We were so reluctant to leave this small, quiet paradise and move on. Can only highly recommend and extend our thanks to the whole team at Goat Fell.

Earlier this month, we returned to Goatfell to spend five nights in the Sri Lankan Hill Country. We had spent a memorable few days there last year, and we are pleased to report that it is still just as good. Happily, we arrived at the start of a period of dry sunny weather, but at 1900 metres, it is cold at night and often misty. However, Goatfell is a warm establishment in terms of temperature and atmosphere, and we enjoyed several evenings in front of the log fire chatting to other guests over an after-dinner drink. Again, the food was of the highest quality, and the chef was always happy to prepare dishes not on the menu - we had a particularly memorable dish of devilled chicken. All the staff provide an exceptional level of service with attention to detail. The area is great for hiking through tea plantations; the final leg of the Pekoe train from Kandapola in the valley below to just outside Nuwara Eliya was particularly enjoyable. Thanks again to all the staff, especially Askar, Deva, Yoga and Indika, for making this such a special place to visit.
