Hotel Glendower

The hotel is a beautiful old bungalow right in the centre of the town, 2 mins walk to Victoria Park. It has a certain ambience inside, and all the staff were delightful. However, the hotel is very tired, to be honest, and has the feel of a 1970s boarding house. Our room (room 4) was large, with a huge bed. However, one of the windows didn't close properly; there were signs of penetrative damp on the walls; the carpet was old and torn; the TV didnt work and had wires hanging out of it; I wrote my name in the dirt on the window; there were areas of mould in the bathroom; the bath plug was missing; the towel rail and toilet paper holder were broken off; the toilet flush was broken; need i continue...? And I feel bad writing this because the staff were so lovely, but it's the truth, I'm afraid.

Warm and sweet This os a very warm and sweet hotel just located near the town centre. Everything is just nearby and the the hotel itself is in good vibe. The garden, bar and the common room are a highlight for the hotel. I especially like the fireplace in the common area. Staff are super nice and helpful. Sincerely thanks for the staff who provide great help for the transport information for my onward journey.

Old style hotel, very comfortable. Staff are excellent and can't do enough for you. Some areas may need a bit of updating, but on the whole very good. The food is excellent.

Nothing great except the welcome drink. They can't keep a box of tissues in the room. When I unpacked my baggage and tried to put my valuables in the locker, I found that it was not working. The staff came to our room did an hour long exercise and we were watching them like fools but the locker did not work at all. Access to the Wi-Fi was promised but it was never available in my room. It could work only when I was standing at the reception desk. I thought, if I wanted to use the wifi I should aquire the job of receptionist there. There was no glass tumbler in the room. I had to request the staff for two glass tumblers, then only I could get it. The staff except one lady Laxmi was very lethargic. They took an hour for boiling two eggs. The food was not great at all either. Next day when we wanted to take bath we found an empty bottle lying in the bathroom with a sticker of shower gel. When I requested Laxmi to kindly provide shower gel and shampoo she was kind enough to send two bottles to my room but when I started taking bath I found that in one bottle shampoo was there and in another one it was conditioner, no shower gel was provided. The most unfortunate thing was that I asked to the staff to convey my messages to the manager and request him to atleast visit my room and meet with me but he never showed his face. I don't know what does he think of himself. At the time of checking out I said, why should I pay for the facilities I had not been provided. They gave me a discount of 15%.

Nice hotel located in Nuwara Eliya. The hotel reminds about a western style, British country side hotel and is also good looking- both interior and exterior. The staff are fantastic and the service the best! The chinese food was so good here (it’s their speciality here) and the location is really the best, surrounded by tea plantages and beautiful nature! And they have a fantastic pub here too🤩

This English inspired hotel is so cozy and really authentic! I love the English culture and this felt just like it. The rooms are clean and very nice, amazing food, friendly and helpful staff with lots of things to do close by. We enjoy tea factory and teplantage in the area.
