The Rec Hotel

Very dated Motel, but reasonably clean. WiFi was very poor by modern standards. Location was good and you could easily walk everywhere. Good location for visiting places in and around Northam. The Motel is badly in need of an update, it looks very tired and dated. Good food at the pub, but very busy and noisy

First time staying here. I stayed out the back of the pub in the units. Rooms are clean, comfy bed with good sized tv, cooking facilities are limited. Full sized fridge plus a microwave. Parking for lv s only . Not far from town for essentials , overall a good place to stay , not cheap tho .

For the money, this was an alright place to stay. The room had everything we needed, it was just tiny! The bed needs replacing, it was horribly uncomfortable. Other than that, it was fine. Its a little walk to centre of town so if you dont like walking, take a car. The staff were lovely, the food was good. Good value for money.

Place was busy with families sitting in the winter sun. Had the special steak sandwich with focaccia, was lovely, steak was pink and juicy, great relish, tasted great. Popcorn chicken very nice too. Nice refurbishment now called The Rec. worth a visit for sure

We had a one night stay is this beautiful old building, and it was just what we expected for a fun country stay. There was 7 of us ladies , 3 in the hotel and 4 across the road in modern accommodation. I personally enjoyed staying in the upstairs hotel rooms , even with shared bathrooms (5 to choose from and very clean). 3 of us ladies in a very large room , with beautiful old doors that open on to a huge wraparound balcony. Yes the rooms were older style but that’s exactly what we loved about it , clean, coffee/ tea facilities, fridge,biscuits, towels, soap, shower gel all included. Dinner that night was more than satisfactory and staff are absolutely amazing, extremely friendly. Be sure to have a good look around this old gal , she sure is beautiful. Thank you for a fantastic getaway.

Business travel, lovely original restored hotel, nice outside dining areas, okay food, limited options, but overall, a few things let down a comfortable stay. No covid clean notices, no hand sanitiser available in room or public areas, or covid aware sanitised packaged kitchen items. I had a chalet room, easy access to room from carpark. A common front door opens to 2 chalet units. Strong overpowering smell of cheap floral air freshener upon entry, no good for anyone with allergies. Room has kitchenette, room #25 has heat damaged cabinetry, this should be repaired, Some simple written instructions would be helpful on how to use the TV, as there are so many options to select. Air conditioning is not on upon arrival, the room was 32 degrees inside, it was terrible and the air conditioning is difficult to adjust, and took a long time to cool down, with no proper instructions on how to use, the written directions are not helpful. The hotel requests, air conditioning not to be left on when unattended. Bathroom simple. Bed comfortable, But purple bed sheets look faded, and although they appear clean, they are undesirable and white for hotel linen is always best. Front Door lock is not secure, just a simple push button door knob with key lock to outside, and exterior sliding door. But the most unacceptable is having no bedside lamps, only overhead ceiling down lights which are so bright, and can not be dimmed.
