The location is good, no aircon but it quite chilly at night and must bring the mosquito repellent. The wood dust keeps dropping to the bed, i wish there’s hair-dryer as the basic amenities.

Just loves staying at Highland Resort! Very nice and spacious bungalows in beautiful surroundings. Charlie and staff are extremely nice and helpful and all in all Highland Resort is an ideal base for exploring Minahasa area. Highly recommended!!

In eerste instantie lijkt dit een leuk parkje, maar……. Het huisje was erg vies, oud, heel donker, kapotte verlichting (dat repareren we morgen wel), kapotte tv, kapotte lakens, slecht bed, buitendeur kon niet op slot, het rook er niet fris, als je onder de douche ging was de hele “badkamer” kleddernat. enz. enz. Verschillende meubels waren zichtbaar,het zaagsel lag nog op de grond, aangevreten door termieten. We hadden sterk de indruk dat wij de eerste gasten in dit huisje waren na een lange leegstand. Het parkje is volkomen over de datum, we vonden het eerst wel charmant, maar dat gevoel was gauw weg.Het enige dat zonder problemen werkte was de wifi.Het plan was hier meerdere nachten te blijven, maar we zijn na een nacht van hotel gewisseld. Mede ook nog eens omdat er op het parkje zelf geen keuken is, het avondeten wordt door een (matige) cateraar gebracht, het is dus ook niet warm.

We stayed there for a couple of days to explore the area around Tomohon. The rooms look nice and you really want to snuggle into the bed. You can enjoy your breakfast on the terrasse of your bungalow. For dinner you can order from different restaurants. The staff is great, always helpful and will help you anytime with hints where to go or organize anything you need.

Some good things: wifi that works very well in the room and on the veranda, drinking water left daily in the rooms in big jugs and then available at the reception anytime (so no plastic bottles), hot water always running, nice staff that was always trying to help, location was very nice - also for bird watching, when you're planning on trips early in the morning they prepare takeaway breakfast and tumblers with coffee/tea which stay hot for many hours. Also I liked the location which was further from the centre, but you can take a local minibus (angkot) and get there fast. Also great that they make scooters available for rent. Some drawbacks: the rooms are run down, they need some maintenance. Also, inside is a bit too dark so it's great there is a veranda to sit outside. The prices of the scooters are very steep but interestingly there are not many available scooters in Tomohon so that might be your last option. Also tour prices were way too steep - we ended up just contacting local guides directly instead of taking tours from the hotel. I really don't like it when the hotel is trying to make money unreasonably. Also food wasn't that good - simple mee goreng was just served plain, without any veggies or flavour, so it's better for you to actually make sure to fill up your belly in Tomohon :)
