First off, the location is an absolute game-changer if you're here to ski. Seriously, stepping out the back door and practically onto the gondola was the most convenient thing ever. No lugging skis around or waiting for buses – just pure, unadulterated slope time. And after a long day carving through that famous Niseko powder? The outdoor onsen with views of Mount Yotei was heavenly. Soaking in the hot spring while surrounded by snow-covered scenery was the perfect way to soothe my tired muscles.
The staff were also a highlight. From the moment I arrived, they were incredibly friendly and always ready to help with anything, whether it was ski rentals, shuttle information, or just general recommendations. They really made me feel welcome.
My room had a fantastic view of Mount Yotei – waking up to that majestic sight every morning was such a treat. The room itself was comfortable and had everything I needed for a ski vacation, including a handy mini-fridge for après-ski drinks.
Breakfast was a bit of a chaotic scene in the mornings, but the variety of food on offer was impressive, with both Japanese and Western options to fuel up before hitting the slopes.
Now, a couple of things to keep in mind. While the ski-in/ski-out is unbeatable, the hotel is a bit isolated. If you're looking for a lively nightlife or a ton of dining options within walking distance, you might find yourself relying on the free shuttle to Grand Hirafu. Also, the food at the hotel restaurants, while convenient, can be a bit pricey. I ventured out to Kutchan a couple of times and found some more local and reasonably priced options.
