Newton Hall

Stunning location, we stayed in a garden room which we both felt was a little small and felt claustrophobic, the bathroom door didn't shut due to binding on the door frame and the tv remotes didn't work due to dead batteries. Bed was comfy although a bit on the firm side. Staff were attentive and courteous. The walk to and from the joiners arms for meals made a quirky difference again staff were great and food very good. Overall because of the 5* rating a little bit disappointing but we did enjoy our stay...

This was a spur of moment booking based on an internet search for accommodation in Edinburgh. Newton Hall came up in the search and offered a good price. Don't ask me how but Edinburgh can wait as we had a very good time. The room, staff and breakfast were all very good. We would both consider staying again as we often visit the area, The only criticism would be the hot water which was intermittent and on occasion hot water would come out of the cold hand basin tap.

Avoid this hotel if you can! The room was very far from satisfactory for a 5 star hotel. There was a very serious issue with the shower due to poor ventilation and therefore it was unpleasant to open the door and use the the shower because it smelt so bad and left a lingering, rotten smell in the room. There are essential repairs needed in the room to the broken wardrobe door, the hole in the ceiling covered by black duck tape, the toilet roll holder hanging off the wall. The cleaning of the room was also not up to scratch for a 5 star hotel, there were cobwebs all over the ceiling and wooden beams. As other customers have mentioned in their reviews, this place does not meet it's high price point and it's not shabby chic, it's just shabby!

We stayed at Newton Hall for our menu tasting evening in advance of our wedding in October. The stay was absolutely lovely and they pulled out all of the stops. There was an issue with the first room and we were able to swap rooms with no trouble. The bed and pillows were lovely and comfortable, the food was amazing and the vibe of the venue is just immaculate. Drinks were a little on the pricy side but otherwise a perfect stay!

The room was really nice and very comfortable. Checking in was easy online however, probably would have preferred an earlier time to book in when attending a wedding that morning.

Friendly staff. Easy check in. Blind in bathroom broken. - made aware of this on check in. Path behind apartment meant not much privacy when usin toilet. Clean tidy, not much room in apartment sbd difficult to avoid the lights on both walls. Not worthy of the £300 + price tag.
