I had high expectations for this visit, as it came highly recommended by colleagues and friends as a special treat for my mum and myself. While we've already shared our feedback with the hotel both verbally and in writing, we have yet to receive an acknowledgment of our written feedback, so I wanted to highlight some key points here. Firstly, upon arrival, my mum immediately noticed that access to the hotel was challenging for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility, which is important to us as two members of our family use a wheelchair and have limited mobility. When my mum inquired at reception about how wheelchair users access the hotel, the response we received was unexpectedly abrupt. The receptionist made a comment, “Do you want me to build another car park?” which felt dismissive. Later, we spoke to the manager, who noted our concerns. We had booked the Deluxe Guestroom and were looking forward to the experience advertised on the website. Unfortunately, the room did not meet those expectations. We mentioned this to the manager, who confirmed that the room was correct, but it clearly did not match the advertised photos. While we were offered the option to switch rooms, it was quite late in the evening, so we decided to stay. In addition to this, we encountered two maintenance issues in the room: The shower controls were difficult to turn, which posed a potential health and safety concern due to the extremely hot water. This could be hazardous, especially for guests who may struggle with the stiff controls. There was a loose floorboard outside the bathroom that could potentially lead to an accident if not addressed. On a positive note the bar and spa staff were lovely and friendly, atmosphere was great and breakfast was lovely. Overall, while there were aspects of the stay that didn’t meet our expectations, I hope the hotel can take this feedback on board to improve the experience for future guests, especially in terms of accessibility and maintenance.
