We recently visited The Headland Hotel for the Dip & Dine experience and we were less than impressed. We spent £130+ for the 2 of us & we left feeling disappointed. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who explained the experience, from the changing rooms to the evening meal. We were given robes and towels then directed to the changing room. The floor in the changing room was filthy. It was dirty with mud, hair (understandably, but clearly no attempt had been made to clean all day), and mucky water. After seeing this, we went to reception to purchase footwear as the booking confirmation email states we can do this. However, we were told it’s not an option and the hotel encourages guests to be bare foot which is quite unreasonable considering the state of the floor and the areas we would be walking through were used by both guests and staff with outdoor footwear. If we had known we actually couldn’t purchase any at reception, we would have been prepared to purchase some from elsewhere before our stay. On a positive note, the locker system was excellent! Incredibly secure and large storage. A useful and comfortable rubber band for the lock that goes on the wrist. Next, the pools were bitterly underwhelming and not relaxing at all. Half of the jets were not working in any of the pools, including the outside spa pool outlooking the sea. Adding on, we were informed on arrival there was a 20 minute limit in the outside spa pool, yet certain guests were in there for well over the limit which made it impossible for others to enjoy the only warm pool. This left us feeling slightly uncomfortable as we didn’t want to be in there taking away from others’ experiences. We understand it can be difficult to monitor, especially during busy periods, but we saw just one staff member operating this area. There wasn’t much notice taken to the continuous service to the same couples in the Sunset Spa overstaying the limit. If the hotel is making these rules, it should be encouraged to be enforced by staff. Further, the temperatures in all besides the spa pool were cold to luke warm at best, making them less than relaxing. A downside was the presence of children running around, shouting, throwing balls, and entering pools that are prohibited. Understandably, the hotel isn’t at fault for their behaviour, but allowing children in an area that’s supposedly relaxing feels contradictory. While we don’t expect them sit silently or refrain from having fun, this disrupted ourselves and other guests. To better promote packages like the Dip & Dine offer, or advertise The Aqua Club as a calm, relaxing environment, it might be beneficial to consider designating child-free areas or times. We were aware when booking this that children were in the aqua club with their dedicated pool so we had some hope they wouldn’t be an issue, unfortunately this wasn’t the case. The experience included 2 hours in the pools, which we cut short to 45 minutes due to the under
