"Débranchez tous vos sens, essayez de dormir et partez vite au petit matin" Le Ferry du 31/10 au soir étant annulé pour cause de mauvaise météo, nous avons du prendre deux chambres pour la nuit. Tout était digne d'une soirée d'Halloween, chambres à la propreté douteuse,(poussières, odeur d'humidité), dans l'une d'elles on trouvera une chaussette sale. Salle de bain sans chauffage. Le seul point positif est que nous n'avons pas dormi dehors.

This guest house is very reasonably priced for Newhaven and, with its close proximity to the ferry terminal and the main bus route to and from Brighton, it has, I feel, the potential to do very well. There needs, however, to be a little more professionalism about the way it is maintained. Weeds on the front patio, some as high as 2 feet, did not a good first impression make, and nor did a dirty bath and bathroom floor and a cobweb at the top of the shower screen. Surely it makes good business sense to address these issues when a paying guest is expected. This said, the room was cosy and quiet and I would stay here again. I would just like to see it given a little more of the TLC that it definitely deserves.

I was unable to cross from France due to a train strike. I rang and cancelled my booking as soon as I knew that I couldn't come. (lunchtime the day of proposed stay).I was stuck in France half-way through my journey to Dieppe. I received no sympathy from the rude man at the end of the phone. I said that I assumed I would lose my deposit of £20, on the £60 cost. He just grunted. I later found that my card had been debited for the rest of the money (£40). I rang and queried this and was told that I had not cancelled over 24 hours before. I was not aware of this requirement, but pointed out that a) I had been prevented from arriving, and it was not my choice and b) I was not advised that they would be debiting the rest of the cost. The rude man said that I had not asked. I said that I had said when I cancelled, that I actually commented to him that I assumed I would lose the deposit and he had not corrected me. He said that he hadn't told me that he WOULDN'T be debiting the money either! I gave up. This is the worst attitude I have ever come across. If the terms of the booking entitled them to the full price, ok, but they should have told me what was going to happen, and the general rudeness of the man on the phone was appalling.
