This is our 2nd stay here at Nottingham, the 1st time we stayed in the silver birch lodge which I absolutely loved, very modern and beautiful clean, table was set up beautifully too on our arrival. Being a late booking I had to book a golden oak cabin, I must point out this should have been better than the silver birch being as you pay more for this type of cabin ,.. Mmm.. this was not as clean , very dated, no table set which did miss that little exta touch. Outside window frame rotten by the hot tub , used ashtray on the outside table, which should have been cleaned away for next guests. No bags to put in the bins, no bags left to be put in the food waste caddy. Pillow cases inside out, was this done instead of using clean ones?. Live Spider in the middle of bed when I pulled back the duvet. Only half the heated floor worked, master bedroom and both toilets and that's where it stopped, only put it on day before we left or I would have reported it as the temperature did drop a little. Hot tub cleaned daily, thank you guys. Not as powerful as the last lodge and again seems very old as fitting around the jets kept coming loose and floating to the top, a couple of the jets were missing, so when empty maybe look at replacement fittings. We did enjoy our stay as the surroundings are beautiful, very peaceful and quiet, just what we wanted. Would I stay again?.. yes, but definitely a different lodge.

When we first decided to book a stay at Sherwood, we were a little hesitant. We had come across a few negative reviews online, and while we know that sometimes a disgruntled few can color the whole picture, it still left us wondering if we'd made the right choice. However, after our recent 4-night stay, we can confidently say that the experience far exceeded our expectations—and here’s why. The Lodge: Comfort, Cleanliness, and a Great Location We stayed in the Silver Birch lodge, which was absolutely perfect for our needs. The lodge was immaculately clean, well-equipped, and comfortable—everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The homey touches and spacious interior made it feel like a real retreat from the daily grind. Yes, there was some ongoing work being done by the National Grid in the area, but honestly, the disruption was minimal. We were given a small refund as a gesture of goodwill, which we hadn’t even asked for, showing that the management genuinely cares about the guest experience. It was a nice surprise and reflected the thoughtful customer service we received throughout our stay. Relaxing Nights Under the Stars One of the standout moments of our trip was spending time in the hot tub. There’s something magical about sitting in warm water under the clear night sky, watching the stars, and catching glimpses of multiple Starlink satellites passing overhead. It was a perfect, peaceful way to wind down after a day of exploring. Welcoming Hosts and Helpful Staff From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. Angela, the host, greeted us warmly and made sure we had everything we needed to settle in. Later during our stay, she even stopped by to check in and ensure everything was going smoothly. It’s these little touches that really made a difference and showed the genuine care the team has for their guests. Exploring Sherwood Pine Forest and Beyond The location of the lodge couldn’t have been better. Just a short walk from the Sherwood Pine forest, we were able to enjoy some beautiful woodland walks right from our doorstep. The forest is a real gem, offering peaceful trails and a lovely natural atmosphere. Whether you're an avid hiker or just looking for a quiet stroll, it’s the perfect spot. Sherwood also offers plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. There’s something for everyone, from mountain biking trails to the adventurous Go Ape course (though we skipped that one, given our age). If you're an outdoor enthusiast, you’ll definitely find something to suit your interests. Day Trips: Rufford and Clumber Park If you're looking for some scenic day trips, we highly recommend visiting Rufford Abbey and Clumber Park. Both are just a short drive away and offer beautiful parks to explore. We spent a lovely afternoon at Rufford Abbey, wandering around the gardens, and Clumber Park was a wonderful place for a longer walk to take in the countryside views. We stayed as a couple in March 25 in a Hideaway cabin (77) for around £1100 for 3 nights. This was our second Forest Holiday (first at the site in Garwnant - highly recommend) and we absolutely loved it. As part of the room type we had early check in, location was easy to find and roads are rough but not awful. Reception staff were so lovely and off we went to the lodge. One car parking space for this type of lodge and it was gorgeous. Pictures won’t do it justice, it has such a lovely warm vibe to it. Kitchen is perfect with a full size fridge/freezer. The lounge/bedroom area was gorgeous - just FYI the sofa is different to the pics on their website as you get one 3 seater sofa now. The bathroom, well wow, huge 2 person bathtub, massive 2 person shower with 2 shower heads and lovely underfloor heating. Pure luxury! Outside you have the lovely hot tub, BBQ, table and two seater swing chair. 77 was a great lodge location, not really overlooked and felt private but there is a road not too far away which I didn’t realise, you can see the cars through the trees but it’s still extremely quiet. Lovely walks near by, too many routes to do for our stay. We also had the best weather which just made the weekend. Squirrels everywhere (bring some squirrel food and they’ll love you!). Really peaceful environment. We had the best time and we will definitely book another Forest Holiday again! Other points: -Water pressure is great, some taps/flush on the toilet are pretty stiff -Bed is not the comfiest, I also brought my own pillows -Our fire alarm was faulty and went off one morning, my god was that thing loud, ruined the peaceful atmosphere for us and our neighbours. Maintenance came but about 30 mins after raising it and changed them over. Everyone was lovely but if there really was a fire it was extremely slow service! -They offered us late check out for £20 when we arrived, we didn’t take it but nice to know it can be offered at a cheaper price -A few bits of wear and tear, but nothing that bothered us. It’s an old site so it won’t be perfect. You’ll have a great time!
