Carlton Arms Hotel

Saw the availability of a reasonably priced stay at this hotel. Looked a quirky, but thought as it was a hotel it would be reasonably clean and tidy. Sadly our experience was less than acceptable. The sink in the tea room was growing mould and had never been cleaned. The bathrooms were shared again. Fine but they were filthy dirty, the bedroom was dark and dimly lit, one wall was partially painted blue and it looks as if the white paint run out. We left the hotel next morning as we had a child with us and we let down by this hotels standard of hygiene

Preparez-vous à une expérience inédite. Je pense que vous ne pourrez jamais oublier votre passage au Carlton Arms Hôtel. Personnellement, j’y ai séjourné 2 fois à 34 ans d’intervalle et l’émotion a été la même. Tout y est : l’originalité du décor, la gentillesse des employés, le chat, l’emplacement et pour finir LE PRIX! (et ce n’est pas un détail à NYC). La clientèle est à l’image du lieu, éclectique.

Hôtel complètement atypique mais avec un personnel super sympa et une literie parfaite ! Chaque chambre est peinte dans un décor surréaliste. Plutôt très kitsch mais tellement sympa à vivre comme expérience. Certes, on est loin du 5 étoiles, mais c'était clairement annoncé. Ceux qui cherchent un hôtel pas cher (165€ la nuit pour deux personnes, c'est plutôt très rare à NYC) avec un bon rapport qualité prix, vous avez sonné à la bonne porte. Cet hôtel est situé dans l'East Village à 5 min à pieds d'une station de métro. Il conviendra donc parfaitement à des gens qui aiment ce qui sort de l'ordinaire... Petit bémol : très proche de la 3e avenue avec une isolation sonore avec l'extérieur quasi nulle -＞ impossible de ne pas constamment entendre le bruit extérieur continu des voitures, ambulances et autres motos durant la nuit.

Is it worth $142 (including taxes and fees) for a Double bed + 1 twin)? It’s the cheapest accommodation we could find in Manhatten on a holiday weekend / sat night. The room we booked was for 3 persons but we had only two occupants which is just right . Might be tight for 3 if you have plenty of luggages. There is a mini fridge and sink in each room which was convenient . A public area next to reception on 1st floor with free coffee and tea in morning. Also a microwave and water fountain. So if you’re staying long term, you can save your leftovers in your room’s mini fridge and warm them in the microwave. Pro: charming, unique, interesting murals and artistic, great location (lots of restaurants!), hot water in showers, heater kept room very toasty, clean sheets, clean thick newer towels, staff is super nice (Mr Patagonia) and gave a nice welcome. Room is relatively clean, doesn’t smell. Con: it’s a hostel at a hotel price. Some rooms are better condition than others and vice versa: ie some rooms are worse. Some of the bathrooms are also slightly better condition because they were upgraded. Bedroom got too hot we had to prop open the window to cool it down. No elevator. Suggestion: 1. arrive early you might get a choice of rooms 2. Bring Flipflop (and a plastic bag for your personal stuff) for the shared bathroom 3. Save a few dollars if you book direct. We paid more through Agoda because we didn’t know. 4. Tour the whole hotel walk around every floor! 5. Don’t loose your key - no staff after midnight so you will be locked out! We had a room with walls of painted dolls that look like voodoo dolls - especially when the lights go out, their white faces reflect the ambient light - pretty spooky. We didn’t hear any noise from next door. We parked on the street - free parking on sat night to Sunday. Other days you have to pay the meter. We could have driven to queens and had a nicer hotel for the same price but then we chose location over that. One night is ok. More only if you ok with the gringiness. It’s very old and could use updates but then, if updated, you probably won’t be paying this price like other places in Manhatten.

Hôtel basique mais propre et idéalement situé pour découvrir la ville. Bon à savoir : Les draps ne sont pas changés tous les jours, c'est uniquement à la demande mais le gérant (très sympa) vous informe dès l'arrivée. Ce n'est absolument pas un hôtel de luxe mais il fait le job !

Purtroppo a New York gli hotel( come tutto) sono molto cari se non si vuole alloggiare in periferia bisogna spendere molto….questo hotel offre prezzi contenuti però ha un suo stile particolare che può anche non piacere ma se piace .. piace forte ed è anche situato in una posizione abbastanza centrale
