We chose this hotel because it is just a block and change away from the Columbia-Presbyterian medical complex. If you are going to the hospital or the adjacent medical offices, the location can't be beat. It's on a quiet street, no traffic noise or honking horns at night. Many NYC hotel rooms are small. I get that. But the bathroom was really, really cramped. There was almost no room to stand in front of the sink. The bathroom had narrow double doors. If you opened one, you had to slither out sideways. If you opened both doors, one of them was spring loaded and banged loudly if you let it go. There was little thought given to places to hang wet towels and washcloths. The one hook that could be used for a big towel was loose and a towel hung on it would block the auxiliary bathroom heater (which didn't work anyway). The shower stall was decently sized, but it had no grab bars at all (not good for a hotel that primarily caters to people coming to a hospital). There were no towel bars inside the shower or on the outside of the glass door. The toilet took a long time to refill and stop after flushing (long enough I lifted the tank cover to make sure the flapper was seated). The toilet tissue holder was loose. On the good side, the bed and pillows were comfortable. There was barely enough room to walk around the bed, though. A younger single traveler might not be bothered as much. However, this was not an ideal accommodation for two seniors.
