Candlewood Suites New Bern

My spouse had surgery at the nearby Carolina East Hospital so I spent the night here. The hotel was very clean and quiet. I want to commend Preston T., desk manager. I mistakenly left my wallet at the desk while checking-in. Five minutes later he was at my room door returning my wallet. I didn’t realize that I had forgotten it. I appreciate his professionalism and kindness.

Stayed for a weekend while in New Bern visiting family.. great hotel! Recently renovated, extremely clean, parking is convenient and free! Staff is friendly and very accommodating. Awesome, safe location.. highly recommend staying here.

It was festival weekend; so I checked the day before arrival for our family and three rooms together. The staff was professional and accommodating to get us close as possible. The renovations are almost complete; and our rooms were perfect. Brand new everything; even the mattresses! Full size fridge, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. Incredible, novel lending locker by elevator. Many different appliances available; and many entertainment toys like cards and games. The General Manager was available to make sure everything was working well and all happy with accommodations!

We had a reservation for two rooms on a Friday night. When we arrived later in the evening, Michael at the front desk told us our reservations were canceled. He said our credit card was declined, and they had no phone number. That could not be true since we have a membership with them. We also had a reservation for the following Friday night, and there was no problem with that night. He offered no help in finding another room, and didn’t seem to care we had no place to stay.

I was a little apprehensive when booking this location after reading mixed reviews. My concern ended up being unwarranted as we had an excellent experience here. All employees we interacted with were pleasant, friendly, and helpful, including the owner/manager Paresh. He greeted us every time he saw us pass through the lobby and had recommendations for places to eat as well as some sites we should see. Even though it's not located right downtown, it was an easy drive to the places we wanted to visit. There are also lots of food choices and shopping nearby if you don't want to go into downtown. We typically stay at hotels where breakfast is included so we came prepared with fruit and other breakfast items. There was complimentary coffee all day long as well as small food and drink items available for purchase (like single serve oatmeal cups). Prices for these items seemed very reasonable to me. Our room was a single queen suite which included a 2 burner stove, microwave, full-size fridge, and sink. We didn't plan to cook while we were there, so didn't pay too much attention to how the kitchen was equipped. Bed was comfortable and pillows were adequate. Bedding was a little weird because the way the covers were tucked tight across the foot of the bed, they wouldn't even reach your shoulders when you got into bed. The only other negative for me was that the bed was situated close to the wall on one side with no nightstand or shelf on that side, so no place to put glasses, phone, or anything else close to the bed.

Older property. Kinda overpriced. Pretty clean but, my room had a refrigerator. The motor, compressor, ice maker made sleeping all but impossible. Unless you can sleep through anything, I suggest you not stay here. I cannot recommend Candlewood.

Jacqueline at the front desk is a gem! She honored my husband's veteran status to give us a good rate and got us in a room on the first floor to accommodate our dog. While the room was not fancy, it was perfect to let our dog out instead of having to go down an elevator and through the corridor. The room came stocked with a bag of microwave popcorn and had a functional full-size fridge plus microwave and stove top. The shower pressure was adequate but the water got hot pretty quickly. The linens on the bed were clean but thin--if you like sleeping in cold temperatures, there are not enough blankets to keep you warm. There is no breakfast at this site but they do offer a free cup of coffee in the morning. There's a little snack bar on site. For a quick stop on a long road trip with a dog, this was a good choice.

Front desk manager was polite and got us checked in right away, which was great because we had just spent 16 hours on the road and were stressed out. The room we stayed in had a big comfy king bed. Everything was clean and quiet. There were more than enough chairs to sit on either side of the bar. Located near some good restaurants and 2 supermarkets. Only problem was that some kitchen appliances (toaster, coffee pot) didn't work. Management replaced them right away. Plan to stay here the next time we make it to New Bern, which hopefully will be soon.

Conveniently located and a caring staff. The front desk team is professional and warm hearted. You will feel welcome and valued. The rooms are clean and quiet. There is plenty of parking and free of charge. There are plenty of restaurants nearby.
