My boyfriend and I booked that last-minute trip to go to the sandals resort in Negril. We had a $5000 so of course we just booked a regular room for five nights. We did not do the concierge or Butler service because it was a last-minute trip. We also were told that it wouldn’t matter that the service would still be comparable.. First of all, we arrived at our room and it was in the oldest building of course on the property it was facing the busy street or all you could hear were motorcycles, loud trucks, music, and people screaming all hours of the day and night our building was also next to the area where they had wedding receptions and two nights they had DJs playing music for 3 to 4 hours so even if you wanted to go to bed early you couldn’t because it was so loud. I feel like if they’re going to have weddings there like that, they should have an area away from the actual rooms so that it doesn’t disturb others.. Our biggest disappointment was the food and anyone that thinks the food there is exceptional undoubtably has not traveled extensively like we have and certainly has not eaten at a real gourmet restaurant. We had nothing there that was gourmet . In fact, if I had to guess I would say most of it was premade or frozen and prepared there. The central buffet on the property was what I would equate to going on the cheapest carnival cruise that you could go on as far as the value and quality of the food . We were absolutely so disappointed about that because we thought at least if nothing else. the unlimited food and drinks would be the best part. Of course there’s very little liquor in the drinks and the food is sub standard at best. . We did have several employees that were very nice, but we also had several who acted like they weren’t very happy to be there. There were so many places on the property that just looked like it had deferred maintenance or needed to be updated. Of course, the beach in the water there is beautiful because after all it is the Caribbean, but it was quite annoying that so many locals were constantly walking up and down the beach in front of you trying to get you to buy **** or other trinkets or to have your hair braided, it was constant. We paid extra to go on the catamaran trip, which was nice as far as the boat ride went, but it was actually too rough in my opinion to be snorkeling, but that was part of the trip, but it was fun, but of course we had to pay an additional $250 to enjoy that. Anyway, overall, we don’t believe we’ll be visiting Jamaica again and not sure about another sandals resort I would have to do a little more research into it.
