I absolutely loved my stay at Porto Naxos Hotel on Naxos Island, but like any place, there are a couple of areas that could use a little improvement. Located a bit further from the main town, this hotel offers a peaceful retreat away from the tourist hustle and bustle, which I found to be a great thing. If you want to explore the old town, it's just a 20-minute walk away. We did this on one day, but spent most of our time exploring the island's stunning beaches.
The location of the hotel has some added perks too. There's a high-end supermarket directly across the street, making it super convenient to stock up on supplies for day trips. Plus, there are a few restaurants, scooter rental spots, and even an open-air cinema nearby. The cinema was a cool experience, even if the movie was a bit lackluster.
As for the hotel itself, the rooms are spacious and there aren’t too many of them, which gives the place a nice, intimate feel. However, the one major drawback was the outdated shower situation. Clearly, this is an older hotel that’s had a facelift, but they should have ditched the old bathtubs in favor of modern showers. The current setup leads to water pooling all over the bathroom floor, which isn’t exactly ideal.
The breakfast spread was pretty good, though a bit heavy on the Greek pies. Don’t get me wrong, they were tasty, but it would’ve been nice to have a few more savory options to mix things up.
