The Avenue Inn

A Bad taste was left in my mouth for more than two reasons the good and the staff member I came across at check out. Hotel is lovely rooms are great but a bad test left in the mouth after trying to comment on an issue with the food to the staff member on duty at check out. We had the unfortunate experience of eating in the restaurant. Food was was below par so had mentioned this to waitress who did nothing. My meal was not touched I ate only the garnish. On checkout The staff member asked how stay was “if you don’t want to know don’t bother asking@. Because when I replied that the food was terrible, but the room was great. I got a lecture on their policy. If food is not a customer satisfaction it is Goodwill to refund or not charge them. I mentioned this to the staff member on duty on my checkout and got lectured how he been in the industry for over 15 years and he knew all about how to treat people well I can tell you he didn’t a simple. Yes I’ll take that on board would have suffice And he wouldn’t put a customer offside. Resulting in This customer writing a bad review, courtesy goes a long way in hospitality and I think he needs to learn that. I understand that they only refund when customers ask for it. My comment was why should a customer ask for it? Goodwill would be bad food we won’t charge you for it. He couldn’t understand that, he just kept telling me their policy was a refund Would’ve been given if I asked for one my comment was why should I have to ask for one and I got his comment back in my face you didn’t ask for a refund. I should’ve just said give me a refund now instead of getting the lecture. So sad that a staff member could’ve been the manager for all I know can ruin a customer stay by simply not listening. So recommendation stay for the room, not the food.

Wir sind nun schon 4 Wochen in Australien unterwegs und haben schon viele Hotels gesehen aber das Avenue Inn war das Beste was wir bisher hatten. Top eingerichtet, es fehlte an nichts. Auch das Restaurant ist super, wunderbares Essen zu guten Preisen. Wir bedauern, dass wir nur 1 Nacht hier sind.

We stayed here for one night during a road trip from Melbourne to Adelaide. This place is a real gem. We had a two bed apartment which was modern and beautifully decorated, comfortable and immaculately clean. It was well appointed for a longer stay, ( kitchen appliances and washing machine/ utility area) with lots of thoughtful details included. The restaurant at The Avenue Inn is really superb and we had one of our best meals in Australia there, with a bottle of local wine. The staff are very friendly and professional. If you find yourself in Naracoorte, stay here.

This is a lovely place to stay. It is a Family business with very friendly people. Great recommendations on what to do locally. Great decor recently completely refurbished and very clean. On-site restaurant a real bonus and a good range of tasty local food. Really enjoyed my stay.

Wonderful stay in an executive room. Very clean. Very spacious. Nice towels and good pressure in the shower. Not in the busy part of town, but family run and everything you need here. Dinner available and breakfast is restaurant quality. Great stop between Melbourne and Adelaide.

Some of the dishes was really awesome. However the server Rose mess up our evening. We ordered a bottle of red wine but she served 1 glass instead. When i told her i wanted a bottle, she was unapologetic and was upset with us. She gave me the bottle of wine that she opened to serve us the glass of red and insist that the botttle is newly opened and ask us to accept the bottle. She is not apologetic at all and have a long face when we were unhappy about it. Still we accepted the bottle of wine since we did not want to spoil the evening. Finally when the bill came, they charge us for chilli flakes 3 times when only 1 serving came. And when we ask for chilli flakes they did not inform us there were extra charges for it as well. Again it was late and i didnt want to make a big scene hence i paid and left. I highly recommend everyone not to visit this premise as they overcharge items and attitude is not good. When i came home to review the bill once again, my husband who ordered the red wine inform me the bottle of wine was only 35 and not the 60 that they charged. It was a house pour and not a vintage one that they claim and serve. Highly recommend everyone to check their bill carefully before payment. We will never visit this place ever again. I highly recommend everyone to do the same
